M3 In Valencia Orange?

Re: M3 In Valencia Orange?

I think all the ease of maintenance spoken about frozen colors boils down to most of them being grey or silver which by nature are very easy to maintain, be it frozen or gloss.

Frozen white and black are in my opinion very very difficult to maintain with the frozen finish. More so than gloss surface.

Just take for example scratches and stains, on a gloss finish, the groomer can very easily go through with a cutting compound to restore the surface. This is impossible for a frozen or matte surface. The BMW frozen top coat is softer than then gloss finish. Bird poop left on for a few minutes and wiped off whilst still wet, will leave a stain that is shinier than the rest of the paint (opposite of gloss paint where bird poop dulls the surface). Then there is nothing the owner can do to restore the finish. I have seen the effects of running a cutting compound on a small spot of frozen paint, by hand not machine, and the result is a gloss surface.

What color was the frozen paint that you applied the cutting compound? Was the result very glossy? The owner that let you applied the compound on the vehicle must have been very brave. ;)

I have had bird poop dried on the paint job. I poured water and washed it off without any blemish. As for cutting compound, nobody shd be doing it on their matt paint unless they are looking for trouble. Thats the benefit of frozen colours for never having to polish it.

Re: M3 In Valencia Orange?

How many of these owner testimonials and advise for frozen surfaces are from owners with frozen grey or frozen silver? Gloss grey or silver are the easiest gloss colors to keep clean and maintain. Will it be any different for frozen greys and silvers?

How many frozen whites and blacks or even blues owners have spoken about their experience concerning the ease of maintenance.

That guy has balls made of carbotanium. The color was Frozen Black. Tested on a very insignificant and inconspicuous spot.

Your argument on grey and silver being inherently easier to maintain does make alot of sense come to think of it. U might be rite. Lets hope more frozen color owners could share their inputs on this.

Re: M3 In Valencia Orange?

Been living with my frozen grey and maintenance is very easy.

I get it detailed regularly with Swissvax Opaque - no issues at all with bird poop or watermarks. Been having the car for more than a year, and I don't have any swirl mark or water mark on the paintwork. Much easier to deal with than gloss paintwork, in my view.

Just to add - I am extremely anal when it comes to paintwork - e.g. I would collect a car from dealer with stickers still on. I would remove stickers myself and detail the cars myself. I use Swissvax Crystal Rock on gloss paint finish (for my other car).

dirt and water mark is very visible on frozen black, same goes with gloss black. hence the car must be washed after driving under the rain, otherwise it looks like the car has been picked up from the ditch. i can testify this thru experience.

this might not apply to silver or grey, as dirt and rain residue is less visible be it frozen or gloss paint.
