how sure can we be that those GT-R (R35) that did 2.26~2.28 at SIC are stock? Aren't most of them oredi on after market Reflash, and exos mod? ;)

oh yah sorry my mistake.. they had openly stated those mods.. just that it slipped my mind.. They were on stock tires and the word 'stock' was burned into my mind after a discussion with a friend, but I forgot it was to do with tires hahah

any idea what the quickest stock ecu stock everything R35 laptime around Sepang is? Somewhere around 30-32?

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

The nurburgring long version is very special because it is shitty rutty road for some parts. The suspension can be make or break for this track as stated by many competitors, and just doing suspension tuning FOR nurburgring, can give a big step in timings. A racecar does not do well for the nurburgring, except a certain Porsche 935 which was driven in such a way as his colleagues were to label him suicidal.

the long and short of it, if P were to make a comment like this, they better be able to back it up. They put their name behind the comments too. Unlike Nissan who didn't. I am apt to believe that P did their very very best with the GT-R, being 25 seconds off, something is really wrong.

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

Porsche spokesperson: "You're lying!"

Nissan spokesperson: "Am not!"

Porsche spokesperson: "Are too!"

Nissan spokesperson: "Am not!"

Porsche spokesperson: "Are too!"

Nissan spokesperson: "Am not!"

Porsche spokesperson: "Are too!"

Nissan spokesperson: "Am not!"

etc. etc...

An independent test should be conducted before the "facts" from P are evaluated.

To gauge that P is more "credible" because they are backing the accusation with their name sounds somewhat emotionally charged.

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

for me i have no emotion either way. The only true emotion I really have is for Merc cars which have pigged out lately so no emotion there too. Independent test = racing, GT4 class, almost stock.

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

a jap midget was used in the tested GTR.saving 50 kg from a conventional ang moh driver.

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

Car magazine and Evo magazines ran tests on stock customer cars (PI-d from Japan often still with speedcut of 180km/h) and consistently beat 997TT timings with same driver. Ironically, the 997TTs were actually "specially prepared by Porsche UK".

Hard to imagine how Nissan tweaked those results. Unless they knew exactly which PI was buying those cars and knew that the buyer of those cars were going to loan them to Car or Evo.

:)

FWIW, I'd love to have Arj's comments on how different his GT3 and GTR feels. Does he have a Turbo as well?

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

interesting porsche vs nissan showdown ahead

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

i seriously doubt Porsche's credibility on the 7:54 time they clocked. Those were E46 M3, Spec C and NSX-R times .. and the GTR is clearly well ahead of them.

Perhaps the porkie team got the settings wrong on their run? leaving stability or suspension settings in the wrong mode? Speed limiter still on for a super fast track? Or the driver simply screwed it up ... which can easily account for the lost time. If u get me to drive that on the Ring ... i wud have probably clocked 20mins!! hahaha

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

this Porsche guy supposed to be Nring specialist, but this will surely have to go down to the wire .... generating the largest publicity demo race - 997 TT vs R35 GTR both works edition.

It will be a GREAT publicity stunt for both Porsche and Nissan, more benefit to Nissan than Porsche.

Re: Nissan is a liar! - Porsche

yes .. they sounds threatened by Nissan, which they shd have never been

...A senior Porsche engineer, August Achleitner, who supervises the development of all 911 sports cars, sparked controversy when he told Australian journalists at the launch of the new 911 Targa in Verona, Italy, this week that they were unable to replicate the record 7 minute 29 second lap time that Nissan claimed the GT-R set in April.

In the hands of a Porsche chassis engineer, the GT-R was 20 seconds slower than a 911 GT2 and 16 seconds slower than a Porsche 911 Turbo.

Achleitner questioned whether the GT-R was running a standard set-up on road tyres or perhaps something more track-oriented.

either the media or the engineer a stirrer... :furious:

Holy cow. The E46 M3 CSL is still a force to be reckoned with on the track. Almost 4secs off the GTR if the GTR timings are accurate.
