Official 2011 BMWSG Sepang Track Day thread

Re: Official 2011 BMWSG Sepang Track Day thread

Shaun
u hv been analyzing data too much ...

Anyway, been through this before and just about every other club so happen to have it esp those with potential large turn outs

I guess the real key thing is at least we have been very open bout our registration as we know how many sign up and pay up unlike other club where u probably dont hv a clue other than being told some rough numbers which are usually low to start with till the day itself where u get shocked.

In our scenario, a bit of give n take...5% more or less has been the typical change in the final numbers and in my opinion, that's perfectly acceptable.
We hv a target and that's bout 40. If we fall short of the number, we wouldnt hv a discussion like this and everyone will be quiet and organiser might need to fork out money to break even like in my case twice.

I m happy with current arrangement. Organisers exercise in discretionary manner. Shawn and I talked alot bout all these when we secured the slots for this year. And at the rate and the way we organise this ( of coz being selective on which days as well ), we r confident of getting good turn out and evidently as you all have noticed, demand far outstrips supply !

Just for everyone's guide. My close group of guys in Porky circle were late in registering for the trackday and they expressed interests only after the slots were taken up. I told em too bad..and these were the guys who helped fill up the slots when we needed them last time..

Re: Official 2011 BMWSG Sepang Track Day thread

Anyway, I am prepared to do this for Lung, Jeremy, Gerald - and that is every trackday I will just go ahead and buy their slot for them first and put them on the list officially. If they can make it, great. If they can't, I will sell it to others, or if no one wants it, hope that the trackday is full enough that Shawn can refund me. If no refund is possible, then I will take the loss or try and work it out with them. This way it saves them the hassle while keeping the list clear... on?

yeah sounds fine

cool +/- 5% of target 40 is 38-42 . So if the slots are priced to have a bit of buffer for low turnout (which almost never happens like you say), then keeping a clear list is no problem yes? If it's 37 it is 37. If 42, 42.. etc. Cheers

Thanks for keeping that fearsome gang of porsches away hehheh

TripleM, not targeted at you, just quoting your text:

Organisers also need to be open about how they decide who gets on the list beyond the first 40 cars. is it the 41st and 42nd person who pays? or is it restricted to a preferred circle of friends of the orgnisers? or are the names drawn out of a hat in a lucky dip?

i'm sure people who benefit will continue to think of BMW TDs as being very "friendly", but that tone will change once they end up with the short end of the stick.

transparency and friendliness are not mutually exclusive characteristics; in fact, increased transparency in the registration process and equity in treatment of members will only promote the current friendly nature of BMW TDs instead of undermining it.

Re: Official 2011 BMWSG Sepang Track Day thread

Actually I gotta agree with Louis that transparency and friendliness are definitely not mutually exclusive. The doc makes a lot of sense if I may say so. Anyway there's already a way figured out going forward so cheers

Re: Official 2011 BMWSG Sepang Track Day thread

Loads definitely go up and deeper into the factor of safety that they designed for on the stock tire, but usually the FOS covers any eventuality including owners getting cheeky and going with better tires.

Any rubber or PU bushing will deflect more and wear out quicker though. Full rose joints will be better but aftermarket companies need to be quality.. Reiter may make stuff for the road cars.. can check. Anyway Harold is about to stress test his SL.. we'll see what happens heheh

rieter .....love them. they hv a KL office. im thinking hard about buying the rieter 600 GT3 car. i need someone as tall as i am to share. anyone u know?

Re: Official 2011 BMWSG Sepang Track Day thread

You can get a custom moulded insert to share seats. Custom steering too. You should be able to share the car with even a person not very close to your build.

Ok no more OT from me.. will start other thread

Re: Official 2011 BMWSG Sepang Track Day thread

Ok, strict transparency is not what we need here. It's not a registered club, it's not official. We dont pay membership. Let the organiser(s) handle the event in discretionary manner without messing up the whole process. It's hard to turn frds down sometimes but it's not impossible. I did that at least and they didnt make my position any difficult. So understanding is needed.

It's been going on well so far. Honestly, it's strong support from friends that make all these trackdays possible. If we want to be strict, I am more than happy not to refund those who have paid up coz they cant make it the last minute and also I'd not allow slots sale either. Profit orientation is not what we are after here. I duno how else to explain but the key thing is we know we have the event, we know what is the early bird rate n cut off date. So register early and secure your slot, happy days. If you are late to register and get turned down, that's too bad, simply too bad. But hey, that's not the end of it, feel free to post your interest to buy a slot and you will get it. A few happened this time round :)
