Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Guys,

Thanks for the great game and thanks for showing up. Got shot 11 times in all with bruises to tell. Plus a couple of headshots on my visor. Who shot me in the back huh? I got 2 nicely planted on both sides.
Next time, if you guys wanna pull out please at least inform Ken a week or 2 ahead. Its really not cool that the BMW-SG events always have so many people flying airplanes. First pool on Friday, now paintball. This is a disturbing trend. Hopefully the FF: Tokyo drift event will be more successful
Many thanks to Ken for organising this event. When's the next one?

Cheers
Jason

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

A very big thank you to Kenn for organising this event!! Managed to rush over after my service... Well at least better late than never....

Anyway I hope that for the next Paintball event (if Kenn is up for organising another 1 again) all registered participants must pay up even regardless of attendance.

Reason is very simple, just like a movie outing. The paintballs are bought in advance so it'd be pretty unfair if everyone else who attended had to chip in extra for the last min pull outs.

Anyway this is one experience for Kenn whenever he is organising another event again.

Thanks Kenn for another round of ravaging paintball, appreciate your spirit and enthusiasm!

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

10 of us just enough for 2 teams who's going to take photos for us? So sad man.

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Thanks Kentonna for organising :)

I had a great time again and I think the tempo this time was just nice...was not too exhausted this time round.

So when is the next one? Now that I have invested in a mask, have to play more often :D

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Ha... I did not bring my cam this morning... Got up late so rushed down without it... Will do the phototaking some other times... =)

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Nah, I did nothing, Kenneth did everything. Wah I didn't know the same mask is being sold at $130. We did get it for cheaper then. Now I feel like upgrading to Kenneth's neon blue mask, so nice and soft.
The shot on my collar bone is killing me. Can't wear my seatbelt right.

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Gentlemen, my thoughts:

An event like this need some form of commitment:

(a) Minimum number of players to shoulder the average costs - much like booking the Sepang circuit or the GV cinema. Participants rake their names to join in the fun and share the costs and involvement on an optimal level. This is not a typical kopi or drive session. You pulled out last minute with no replacement, someone will suffer. Unless you dun give a damn. Do you?

Please dun do this to the F&F Tokyo Drift event. Else Barry and Michelle will posting the same comments on the F&F thread.

(b) There is a minimum number of players needed to even play the game. When one player commit, he is effectively also taking up the slot meant for others to participate. Had I know we had less than 10 players, the event will be a no-go from the start. You can walk away conveniently, I CANNOT. Like I've said, I have an obligation to the organiser and those players who are going.

(c) This is not a last minute arrangement. The event was announced 2 months ago, and when I left the office on Friday evening, the last list was filled with 18 names. On Sunday morning, it was less than 10. How could I face up to the fact that something cropped up for so many participants just ONE day in advance? I could not even get my soccer team(s) to show up so last minute. I have no doubt about your matters with higher priority, but please have the decency to tell me few days, if not weeks, in advance. 2 months is a huge headstart for efficient planning. If you think you need a longer horizon to plan ahead, lemme know. What will / can you do if you were in my shoes? I've even posted my HP here......

(d) I applauded those who went ahead with the shoot-out. There were suggestions that we should somehow pass on the costs to those who have committed, but in all spirit of fun, we have all came to the conclusion that we will bear the full brunt of it. Kudos to those who were willing to take the hit on behalf of those absentees. For those who have missed it, you have missed out a great day.

Have a nice day.

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Thanks Kentonna for organising. And thanks to the many who last-minute could not turn up for one reason or another, we got to play 7 games. Shiok.

But on a more serious note, for people who have to pull out, do be kind to organisers who may have to make financial commitments to secure bookings etc. Let the organisers have more advance notice if you can, including sms-ing him. Some events have forgiving cancellation policies if sufficient notice is given which will in-turn allow the organisers to make a call whether to cancel the event. Do not juz indicate that u wish to pull out by putting a last minute post in this forum as the organisers may not have logged in juz before the event. Also pls dun expect the organisers to have to check whether u can make it.. Bottomline, pls be more responsible. Otherwise, there may be no orgnaizers in future unless all those who commit place a deposit.

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

Kenneth,

It's disturbing to hv so many pulled out fr this paintball session & im one of them:(
There could hv been urgent personal or family matters to attend thou the absentees this time is discouraging.

I feel that basic courtesy wld be at least post in the forum if u r gonna absent fr the session & msg the organiser as well.

like u hv suggested, perhaps we can set a closing date & any pull out after that wld hv to bear his fair share of the cost.

Once again, i apologised for any inconvience it had caused for my absence.

Re: Paintball Part IV (July 2006)

No worries, Adrian. In fact, you are the one of the two who SMSed me in advance.

Benefit of doubt should be given to all the urgent matters, but I suspect many are simply taking it for granted.

Adrian, I have your mask. As punishment, you will have to wear it for the duration of the meetup next week.
