Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

I think it's clear coated over the metal .... ..... maybe i have to get the kallang guy to knock it out, then spray clear at Yew Lip huh?

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Yup, as long as you cannot use filler to cover up the scratches, it looks like that would be the thing to do.

Maybe you can go down tp Yew Lip to see if they've figured out how to do these types of repairs yet, or if it's easy to do the clearcoat after you've repaired it at another place.

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Got my rims fixed at Hurry Tyres. $10 only. Can't even tell it was scratched! Really can't beat THAT price!

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Any before and after pictures to show us? How about sharing with us their repair procedures?

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Sorry, no pictures leh... actually it's my dad's car. I scratched the damn rims... I told him I was going to bring it to the Kallang guy, then he just went to Hurry to check if they could do it. And they did it for him on the spot.

And he paid only $10 for it. I guess it's only my word to believe, but it's flawless. As though there wasn't a scratch to begin with. So thats good.

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Was it a deep scratch where large chunks of metal were shaved off like this?

Did the repair include painting/clearcoat as well? It's too cheap!

If they can repair this kind of damage for $10, the shop will surely be packed every single day, but they will not get rich cos they charge too low!

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

mine has some metal scratched off.....went to this kallang guy and he repaired it for $40.

took him about 1hr to repair, you can play with his dog while u wait, after that u can't even see where is the scratch......

$10 job, possible ...depends on the damage condition of the rims..... you should have taken some pics....anyway thks for sharing this bit of info....

i have seen rims dented in and still can be repaired by this kallang old man....amazing...

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Chrome-lips are the worse if curbed. But there is a shop doing chrome-plating in Kallang, but the process costs $700 per rim. Refer to Angie Soh of Yew Lip for reference.

I felt sorry if you had curbed your PGIIs......

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

well bro.. all 4 rims are kerb scratched and some even plating came off...

i m crying in my heart now... no more bling bling....

700 per rim, i tink i can get whole set of better sport rims... haha...

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

But are the lips on your rims chromed, or polished?

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

chromed... full chromed... tats why there is chippings tat came off when i hit kerb....

heartpain from thinking again.. hahaha

Then only 2 solutions to fully restore the rims:

(1) re-chrome-plate the lips at a hefty cost;
(2) re-paint the lips matt !!!

I understand the pain when I curbed one of my PGII previously. Thankfully it was a small nick. Angie patched up the nick and touched-up with chrome silver. Cannot tell unless you view it from close range.

I have just changed to Dunlop Sport Maxx - good stuff. 18/225/40 going for $280 at South East, $250 at Poh Heng. So far pretty good review from Alvin666, rodders, TripleM's (Z4)......

CBS bro, sorry for OT.

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

alrite.. thanks.. not very expensive also... good good...

actually looking at Falken and other brands...

will check it out, as i muz get quote for my rims... 235/35 R18....

sorry for OT again...

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

I've heard good things about Sport Maxx's too. I'm gonna try them next. I'm on Pirelli Dragons now and they ok. Not as good in the wet or dry as Eagle F1 GSD3's but acceptable. They'repretty queit though. Can't afford PS2's at close to $700/piece, so boh bian...

Any idea how much they are in 19"?

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

Dunno about 19' but if my memory serves me rite, I was quoted around $320 for 18' by Poh Heng. This was sometime in Jan. Price may have changed now I supposed.

Not sure, but they dun even have 18/235 in stock. Apparently shortage in supply. Must indent. Check with South East and Poh Heng for price reference.

Re: Polished Lip Repair Process (Lots of pics warning)

The rims weren't as badly scratch up as yours Chickenbackside. I guess you could call them Curb rashes, and a small part of metal that is somewhat "chipped" off. So i guess thats it only costs $10. I dunno... maybe because i scratched the rims, and everything just felt amplified! But it was a long scratch though. Almost 1/4 in length.

I should have taken some photos... just felt bad that i actually scratched the rims so wasn't thinking straight. I curbed them coming out of my office carpark somemore. And they were 1 week old! My heart just dropped a notch when I did. Especially after personally telling my dad not to scratch the rims! And then i have to go "open ceremony" for him....

Like I always say, any scratch is bad.
