Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

congrats........vroom vroom.....

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

Thanks to all the Bros for the tips and suggestions. I got the Sebring installed today.

Nice bassy sound, very much like the Remus, so I'm very happy. Cabin noise at 1500 - 2000rpm is only very slightly louder than stock (I was a bit worried). Not sure what it's like at the rear seats though, will try and test it soon.

When starting the engine, damn shiok, now always must leave the door open when starting the engine, like I used to do with the 328ci :lol2:

Best part, my wife actually likes the sound! Looks like all the brainwashing and subliminal messages are finally starting to pay dividends :D

Eggz,
So where did you get your exhaust from and how much? Like you, am considering Remus or Sebring. What made you go for Sebring instead of Remus? Feedback please!
Equinox, you still interested?

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

Hi BZSAB,

I went for the Sebing in the end due to two reasons, firstly it has the most stock looking tips, they are 76mm diameter, and the Remus have 83mm, also, some folks say that the Sebings are a little less loud compared to the Remus. I was a bit afraid of too much resonance in the cabin between 1.5k to 2k rpm so decided to go for the less loud option.

Actually very happy with the Sebing, nice low bassy sound when you gun, and really not too loud, in fact the insulation in the E60 is pretty good and at normal cruising speeds, it's almost like stock, take off and engine startup is when you get that nice sound, which is great.

Unfortunately, the current E60 aftermarket exhausts from both Sebring and Remus are for the M54 engine. Your 523i has the new engine and the aftermarket exhausts are not out yet.

I paid $1100 all in including LTA inspection fee, from J4C.

Eggz, Are you saying that there is currently no Sebring and Remus exhaust for e60? When will they be out?

No, he is saying they are but for limited models of E60s i.e. those with the older M54 engines. Your 523i is not a M54 engine so won't fit yours.

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

Isnt Sebring from Remus too? Their website very similar with one another.

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

The guy at Fong Kim mentioned that Remus and Sebring have the same parent company, but I think their exhausts systems are different to cater to different market segments.

Seems like Remus is a bit more hardcore, tends to be louder and have more fancy looking tips, more sporty? Also a little more expensive

Hi Eggz and T6,
Spoke to Fong Kim today and they said they have Remus for e60 523. What worries me is that he also said the exhaust is the same one used for 520. Is he correct? Scheduled install tomorrow. If you read this, please advice.

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

Better to check carefully. I was told that the exhausts for the old M54 engines cannot be used with the new R6 series (magnesium block) engines, which is in your 2.5l in the 523i.

Get the model number of the Remus that Fong Kim is gonna give you and try to do a search on the web.

www.remus.at does npt list any exhaust models for any of the new petrol engine BMWs

Eggz...

FK says they done it for 520 and 525! So 523 should not be a problem. In any case, they will check and revert before install. BTW, car is with them now to be lowered.

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

BZAB, again be careful, previous 525i was using M54 engine, and is different from the latest 525i which also has the R6.

Tell Fong Kim to look at your stock 523i exhaust, it looks very different from the exhaust of any E60 M54 engined car.

Eggz,

Collected my ride from FK.... Exhaust not installed. They are waiting for manufacturer's advice from Austria and will contact me when info is received. I will keep all posted.

Thanks Bro..

So far any conclusion yet on this issue

Fong Kim now says that the manufacturer/distributor for Remus confirms compatibility for e60 523. They will or have submitted the exhaust for LTA review and is awaiting approvals.

Fong Kim did ask me to go ahead with the install as they expect to receive the approvals within 2 weeks (as of last Friday). However, I am not to convinced and will wait for approval before installing the exhaust.

Do contact Fong Kim for latest updates.

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

Leslie, just have to be a bit patient, the Sebring and Remus exhausts are out for the E90s, and since E90s all use the new engines, the E60 ones for your ride will follow shortly.

Check out these:

http://www.remus.at/product.php?opt...electBrtID=21&selectCatID=336&selectDtlID=655

http://www.sebring.at/product.php?o...2&selectBrtID=4&selectCatID=206&selectDtlID=0

Notice these are for the new 3.0l 258bhp engined E90s.

BTW, official importers of Sebing in Singapore can be found at www.sebring.com.sg, not too sure about Remus though.

Since the E90s have the highest volumes in Europe and their owners are the most likely to go for mods, the exhaust manufacturers will tend to release their wares for this model first. The E60, E63 models will follow suit I am sure.

Re: Remus or Sebring exhaust for E60

eggz - J4C recommended Sebring for my e90 320i yesterday. Wanted to the sound on a 4 pots defore I decide. I was told that the free flowing exhaust will liberate a few horses but read somewhere that its purely for the sound. Care to share your experience with the Sebring?
