Please lah ..... They are the suppose to be the experts. If they cannot handle right then who can ?

When a riot happens - it is not about governing parties. It is not about opposition parties - it is about competence.

The fellows sitting in the squad car must be radioing back to the commanders - how ? Looking at the video - what do you think their orders were ?

Competence? Please elaborate on whose competence?

Let's talk about competence. They kept everything down without firing a single bullet and didn't endanger more lives in the process. So now they are the expert and I wonder about your comments on their tactics then. So their tactics is wrong? Who's the expert here?

Have you been to Little India on weekend night? Have you seen the traffic? How do you think the police get in? Take MRT ah?

If they have fired a bullet and someone else got injured, this would have turned into a major bloodbath. At the tensions levels seen yesterday, ANYTHING could have been possible.

Truth is our boys in blue did a good job of controlling the riot without having everything spiral into the major bloodbath. No?

Re: Riot at little india

I say do what the smart people on the "ground" suggested and follow the mob sentiment - send all FWs and FTs home.

Then we sit and wait for a smarter altenative policy to replace them. If there are no replacement, we should mandate National Service for locals to cover construction, road maintenance, road cleaning, and garbage disposal.

But first, WP should already have a plan not to use any FWs in Aljunied GRC for all the maintenance works. Hiring locals are too expensive? Well, we are supposed to rid all FWs, no?

Oh wait, you don't have a plan yet.

But you are so ready to slap.

Very good job.
I think they used their common sense cause they knew it would have just become WORSE. Plus being limited to 10 bullets per PO, there isnt any respawn point for reloads. Plus they would have been clobbered and having their arms taken off. That would be another bigger problem.

Re: Riot at little india

I don't think that you can generalize that the PO are rude to the foreign workers. Generally these workers come from third world countries, and to deal with them effectively the tone that is used needs to be authoritative.

Many circumstances lead to this incidence, we cant speculate to the state of mind of the workers based on past experience. The response and reaction is of course something we can debate about sitting behind the comfort of our home.

I am actually glad that the PO were able to react sensibly without pulling out their firearm. I am glad that the decided to contain the problem. I am sure that they will learn from this incident and take steps to improve their response, but i think considering the nature of the incident and the level of the people that they are dealing with, they have done a credible job.

I urge everyone as responsible intelligent educated members of our community to avoid reproducing or repeating any unverified accounts or "investigative" reports with ulterior motive. I think its our responsibility to safeguard our own nation.

And to go to the extreme, stop Singaporeans marrying foreigners !!!

Some smart genetic experts will call for pure Singapore breed and "oh please, don't dilute our genes....."

Sure, rid all PRCs, Indians, Banglas, Pinoys, Ang Mors, Japs, Koreans, and even Malaysians !!!

We can survive in AUTARKY !!!

[Please forgive my sarcasm]

Re: Riot at little india

I know some poeple hates Straits Times but given the severity of the event, I don't think they will report any untruths.

"

Mr Sakthivel Kumaravelu has been working in Singapore as a construction worker with Heng Hup Soon, a scaffolding company, for about two years, said a man who identified his body at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) mortuary on Monday morning.
The man, who declined to be named, said Mr Kumaravelu's family has not been notified of his death. He added that Mr Kumaravelu's body was not decapitated as reported by some news outlets but he did suffer injuries to his face.

Thank you !!!

But I think the majority of the people do not care. They just wanna see the driver SLAPPED.

They don't care whether the SLAPPER can truly drive the car if the driver is slapped unconscious.

They forgot that we are all in the same car.....
