Hi bro,

I have also experienced this problem of able to feel the gear change from 2nd to 1st gear and it is indeed very uncomfortable. Glad to come across this thread and know that chances of an upgrade will solve the problem. Can you advise how much is the upgrade if my car is no longer under the warraenty and the procedure of doing it?

Re: Slight tuck fwd whenever I slow down to stop on a traffic liffic light

I've been reading up on this thread regarding the 'jerking' issue with your BMW's. I'm a MINI owner, and I'm experiencing the same thing with my 7months old ride. Had my gearbox replaced after some 'table banging' but the problem still persists and even got worse. :( Had check in to the AD (Eurokars) a few times for them to reprogramme but each time I collect my ride, I would just get back my car with half the petrol already gone.

I'm on the verge of writing in to BMW AG regarding this frustrating issue but am not sure if that will help in any way(s) or not.
What should I do? :(

i just bought a 07 3 series recently took up a TWM warranty for 2 years. I repaired my valve body as per requested. Before the replacement it is very obvious that the car jerks forward when it is coming towards a stop at the traffic light or slowing down. After replacement this obvious jerk forward had been gone but now i can feel that the gearbox getting rough while i am slowing down i.e i feel the gear downshift very hard my passengers also noticed and i also felt a sudden surge in rpm when climbing a slope.

Is my Gearbox going kaput? I will sending the car for a check up with TWM. Munich Auto quoted me $747 to service this issue software update change trans oil 9 liters, trans filter, gasket and labour.

Hi Bro,

If u r on the TWM warranty, then this should be covered as well. try bringing your ride in...they should be able to do it, otherwise BVO is also an authrosized outlet for Khang Auto. I have a similar prob, but it is a slight jerk (after about 10Sec) after coming to a complete stop at the traffic lights and also can feel a slight jerk when car is upshifting (low gear upshift) I am also under (Khang Auto)TWM warranty. Planning to take my ride in on Wed to Khang get this sorted.

Cheers

Gosh, such a big establishement and there is only one guy doing this, and he is on leave....just super isn't it. Anyway thanks for the info, hence it would not be a waste me going there on Wed then. Thanks for the update.

Cheers.

Re: Slight tuck fwd whenever I slow down to stop on a traffic liffic light

it's common. workshop tend to have a special 'guru'. you go bvo, tell the workshop your car got funny problem, intermittent. ah wee test and solve the problem. if he is not there, thing could turn out differently. i'm not saying bvo is nothing without ah wee. i'm just saying, some mech do have his special touch.

Hi bro,

Went down to this bvo last week. It is really as what you mentioned, settled in 80 bucks!
But they mentioned, it's not guaranteed.
If it comes back, then die liao.
Most probably the valve housing is gone.
Let's see how it goes.
Anyway, I got this feeling that it will come back. Software programming is just a temp thing.

Re: Slight tuck fwd whenever I slow down to stop on a traffic liffic light

Hi All,

I went last week to Khang Auto...left the car the whole day there, as i had stuff to attend to. Kept calling them and asking for update....same answer "Still checking"....and then at 5pm decided to go back to Khang Auto ....and seems that nothing was actually done as the car was ready for pick up. They said they checked and doesn't require any Sofware update. Suggested that i leave my car there for another day....so that they can check further and suspect that it can be the O2 sensor somewhere near the manifold area, and that they have to dismantle a lot of things. decided not to proceed and that might render me without a car for next 2 days or so. Anyone heard of this problem? O2 sensor.?

Went over to BVO and met up with AH Wee, told him the problem and what Khang said. He took his tablet like test gear, hooked it up and went for a test drive, after 10 mins or so, came back and said it is all fine. The car is all better now....BVO is good. All this at BVO took about 20-25mins.
Nice one :)
