Something to share on F20

Hi F20 Drivers,

Recently I post on certain issues that I have encounter on F20.

I have sent my vehicle to PML last week and these are the problem and finding that PML offer.

1. Aircon Icon - The Icon blinking for a period of 5-7mins whenever you start your vehicle.
1st time I sent in to PML, SA told me it normal due to the ECOpro system. Therefore, I din take any action on this.
2nd time I sent in to PML due to my Engine could not start normally. This time round, the SA told me, they tried to resolve the problem but could not and claim that it was the Master Control Unit that is faulty and need to replace
PML had place an order for the part, but have to wait for the part to be in.Waiting time for the part bout 3weeks. Still for waiting for the part to be replace and monitor if such problem happen again.

2. Door could not open using the comfort locking and unlocking system.
The door was not able to unlock or lock via comfort locking system.
You need to unlock or lock using your remote key.
PML claim that it happen becos the software inside the vehicle was corrupted.
They have reprog the the software and now it functioning well.

3. Engine could not start - Vehicle fail to detect the remote key.
Engine need to start by placing your remote key on the right side of your steering wheel column.
Same thing, PML claimed is software issue.
Reprog and now back to normal.
However, when I collect my car at PML the next day, I tried to start my with BOTH remote keys inside, the car could not start again. I have to place 1 key outside the car and with 1 key inside in order to start.
Will have to check with them again when the part for the Aircon arrive.

4. USB port - Lost of signal from iPod, iPhone.
I have encounter a lost of sign when I was driving.
I used to played music from my iPod or iPhone. There are a few time whereby the music played halfway and our screen suddenly show 'Device not connected" and music was cut.
There again, PML claim it the software issue.
Few days had pass and no problem for the time being, still monitoring.

5. Boots could not be closed.
There was once after shopping, I load my stuff into the boot and wanna close, it could not be close.
No matter how I try it jus re-bounch back.
Called the Hotline, SA asked me to stop the vehicle engine and try.
I tried still unable. In the end, I stuck in the carpark for more than an hour before the boot can be closed.
I feedback to the SA last week, and AGAIN, it a software issue..

At the end of it, PML claimed most of the problems is due to software..
Is our F20 software really that problematic??

Tat is very scary seem like f20 full of problem.

Best is to keep car as original as possible. Do not piggy back chipset, connect using iPhone...since it may corrupt car software.

Hi Ivan,

Till date, I have not Mod anything, except change of my Rims and Tyres..
And I only got my F20 in Jan this year. Mileage done only 6k.

Ya. Than this is really a big problem in BMW quality. Start to worry since am going to collect car on 28th. Did ask SE whether can I change to 320 but he said can't due to COE already secured.

I think jap car still have a better quality. My Camry never give me a single problem for the past 5 yrs. My wife will kill me if f20 give her so many problems since i am spending most of my time working in overseas.

Must go f SE if I also encounter such problem since he ensured me tat he never have customer complaint on f20.

probably have to go back PML to sort things out within first 1 yr or so.. :whipper:

F30 potentially might have similar problems as its even newer than F20..
at the end of the day, want to buy newer models with more gadgets, be prepared to go back to sort problems with AD.. (that is also my worry if I would to go buy F30 from PI):verysad:

Really very du lan 2 kip pushing car back 2 pml. Pointless 2 change new car n repair everytime like old car. No point finding ur se. Juz go bang table n point middle finger. Nt enough i lend u mine. Haha. OT, i juz got back my car 4 insurance claim. Sent 4 polishing n guess wat. The guy told me tat my car is full of white paint cos they spray my bumper without covering my car. Windscreen also kana. Bt wat 2 do. I can only suck thumb

Pml did it. My seat also kana white stain n i clean it myself after i collect back. Sometime its nt tat we 1 2 bang table n create trouble. Its their after sales service really sucks. When i drive at nite,my windscreen is blur s if very dirty bt no matter how i clean also useless. Noe how 2 make so much claim(nearly 20k) bt i get back is all tis shit. Imagine how much they earn frm it

Sorry to hear all your problems with your ride.
Mine was delivered in December.
I don't have problem #1.
For #2, I encountered it once when I came back from a short 1 week trip. The door could not unlock by grabbing the handle but unlocked by pressing the remote. The car started OK once inside.
#3 - haven't encountered so far.
#4 - haven't encountered so far, although in the early days sometimes I have to unplug and replug in the usb drive to get it to play the music otherwise it was 'hung' on the track.
#5 - encountered once, but that was because I accidentally left my key in my gym bag in the boot and was trying to slam the boot shut!

However I have other problems which you don't have -
- false alarm for low coolant level
- windows which refuse to shut. It thinks someone or something is stuck so keeps opening by about 3 inches everytime I close it
- erratic stop-start
- rattles from the rear doors(?) everytime I go on a slope

In the west, they will say these little annoyances "give the car character"!
I must admit I didn't expect a premium brand to have so many niggling faults though....

Bro,pml think we ppl very free bt im really nt loh. Y cant they do things swee swee. Customer kip going back they nt sian at all. Im doing sales n even a small $40 item i also service customer until song song.
