Rightfully is 10K, but I think I be doing it in btw 8-9K.

u got the servicing schedule?
I myself dunno.. once again proved that I sign without thinking.. :hmmidont:

The 'schedule' is in the Idrive. Will remind you when is the next service base on your driving style and pattern. After service, counter resets to 9k.

Yup, bro whiskie is right.
But normally is servicing @ every 10k.
But to play safe, change every 8k.

MA is Munich Auto @ Teban Garden
By right Conti Car is 10K or 15K.
And if got tubro, normally is 5K.
As advise by PML is 10K, so to play safe go at 8K loh. LOL..

just go for servicing when Idrive indicates..

Re: Something to share on F20

It's condition based.

If you don't drive much, it'll tell you to service at earlier mileage.

If you use the car alot, it'll tell you service at higher mileage.

But actually, the idrive will get you to service the car every 6 mths

I find European cars oil consumption is higher than Jap cars..so for my current VW Golf Sport even though its 1.4L , I have to top up engine Oil (almost 1L)after 4-5000 km..else engine will sound rough.

Hi F20 Drivers,

Recently I post on certain issues that I have encounter on F20.

I have sent my vehicle to PML last week and these are the problem and finding that PML offer.

1. Aircon Icon - The Icon blinking for a period of 5-7mins whenever you start your vehicle.
1st time I sent in to PML, SA told me it normal due to the ECOpro system. Therefore, I din take any action on this.
2nd time I sent in to PML due to my Engine could not start normally. This time round, the SA told me, they tried to resolve the problem but could not and claim that it was the Master Control Unit that is faulty and need to replace
PML had place an order for the part, but have to wait for the part to be in.Waiting time for the part bout 3weeks. Still for waiting for the part to be replace and monitor if such problem happen again.

2. Door could not open using the comfort locking and unlocking system.
The door was not able to unlock or lock via comfort locking system.
You need to unlock or lock using your remote key.
PML claim that it happen becos the software inside the vehicle was corrupted.
They have reprog the the software and now it functioning well.

3. Engine could not start - Vehicle fail to detect the remote key.
Engine need to start by placing your remote key on the right side of your steering wheel column.
Same thing, PML claimed is software issue.
Reprog and now back to normal.
However, when I collect my car at PML the next day, I tried to start my with BOTH remote keys inside, the car could not start again. I have to place 1 key outside the car and with 1 key inside in order to start.
Will have to check with them again when the part for the Aircon arrive.

4. USB port - Lost of signal from iPod, iPhone.
I have encounter a lost of sign when I was driving.
I used to played music from my iPod or iPhone. There are a few time whereby the music played halfway and our screen suddenly show 'Device not connected" and music was cut.
There again, PML claim it the software issue.
Few days had pass and no problem for the time being, still monitoring.

5. Boots could not be closed.
There was once after shopping, I load my stuff into the boot and wanna close, it could not be close.
No matter how I try it jus re-bounch back.
Called the Hotline, SA asked me to stop the vehicle engine and try.
I tried still unable. In the end, I stuck in the carpark for more than an hour before the boot can be closed.
I feedback to the SA last week, and AGAIN, it a software issue..

At the end of it, PML claimed most of the problems is due to software..
Is our F20 software really that problematic??

Sorry Pals for such a long essay...
But just to share..

Cheers..

my Goodness...PML should change a new car for you..I wonder if "Govt" passed the Lemon Law in Oct 2012, helps in this situation

Re: Something to share on F20

sounds like an electrical issue, your car can't seems to remember the key... might be a faulty NVRAM chip in one of your control units...

Don't sound good to me if need to top up almost 1L of engine oil after 4-5000km.
1L is really a lot more than usual amount.
Don't tell me Golf engine / Conti engine consume engine oil is normal?

I thot is by checking engine dip stick for the oil level is good enough.
and how to gauge the sound rough or not if i'm tone insensitive?

Any Gurus can enlighten me?
Thanks :)

I use APR tune for the VW sport so I drive harder most time, you can tell when engine becomes rougher then usual especially when u push it..so u still have to check the dip stick because u should not over fill the oil..

OIC, so engine consume oil is common when its tuned and after hard driving.
So b4 u top up the engine oil, u check the dip stick and it show low, so u top it up to almost 1L?
correct me if i misunderstood.
:)

yes, that right...I normally checked the dip stick at 4-5K after every service...and usually the engine also feels a bit rough...by that time. VW Sport is 160hp std..APR pushes it to 207 hp rougly, then i replace the Catback...put in S3 Intercooler...so it should be 215hp now..

Re: Something to share on F20

my 2 cents...

i was on VW GTI, i always change oil at every 7.5k thats why i don't top up.

Its never harmful to keep your engine oil smooth and clean.

Just go to some workshop and change oil yourself, changing oil for 1 series is easier than GTI or Golf Sports. 30 minutes job.

It gives you a smooth ride every time.
