The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Maybe in a few years' time, FAS can bring SAF to Singapore or get him as consultant to help us win the Asian Cup =D
With his connection, our players can get valuable training stints at Old Trafford perhaps under the tutelage of Scholsey and Giggsy.

i wonder if u can say they r most successful club now. technically liverpools record in europe is still untouchable in england

That may be the next target to go after. SAF may not retire so soon...;)

Just put it this way - Man Utd is in control of its destiny at this point. So is Man City. Both are in the driver's seat - win all, take all.

Both can't happen at the same time though...Man C vs Man U on April 17th.

Still can. As long as Man Utd beats Chelsea.........

Arsenal has the 'easiest' run-in on paper, with MU and Chelsea having to negotiate a number of banana skins along the way. The gunners might just nick it at the last....

On paper, yes, Arsenal has the easiest run in, but:

(1) Arsenal also have the flimsiest strike force in Bendtner. Arshavin sparked now and then. Chelsea has TWO strikers. Man Utd only has Rooney.

(2) Last 7-8 games. Every team will fight all the way to the end. Each game is treated like a cup final. Easy run in? What happened to Chelsea few hours ago?

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Hopefully ManU can lead to the end! Huhhuhh..

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I think the title is too close to predict, lots of factors such as quality of ref and luck will play a part in the final run in. As for liverpool, i think the 4th place is not acheivable, i think city will be 4th. Next year will be a key year for liverpool, 2 possible scenarios,

1. No europe, Benitez gets the sack, Key players are sold like torres and gerrad, new medicore coach who will have build up the team , and we will be mid table team for a few years

2. Benitez gets the sack, a big name new manager , new owners, start of a new era, news key players signed and without any distractions ie europe do better in the league.

I personally think benitez is a little lost, if the scoreline was the reverse yest ie 2-1 to liverpool, SAF would have immediately thrown in 3 attacking players to get the equaliser. Benitez plays it too safe.

The funny thing is all the hype about champions league and 4th place finishing, personally i think spurs or aston villa will not go past the 1st rd and city may make it to the grp stage but prob wont go beyond that. Remember everton a few years ago.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Leeds made it pretty far with O'Leary though...

Chelsea not hungry... no CL so should be focusing on league but....
Man U slow and steady, but just one more injury should knock them off their stride and tire out...
Arsenal seems the steady team... getting the results.... but i hate them. If they get whack by Barca, their confidence will take a hit

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Whose header was nicer? Technique and precision for Torres, or bravery and will for Park? Rooneys penalty and free kick just before half time too predictable for the goalie.

That's why I put 'easiest' in inverted commas.... Yeah, last few games, even playing against bottom clubs also no guarantees. MU has experienced it many times, getting beaten by clubs fighting relegation.

I wonder why he was still playing a Lucas-Mascherano defensive combo when Pool as down by a goal. The 20m pound Aquilani sits on the bench like a cheerleader.

Gotta be Torres. His position was impeccable - no one was tailing him at all !!!

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

That aspect not Torres good... the defence was watching him do Air Jordan. Frankly for a little while i was wondering if Vidic was playing. Saw the match only 2nd min onwards and dont understand the commentary.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

based on form, is man utd vs arsenal.
chelsea's confident must be real low now.

i say spurs for 4th spot.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Thanks Hitmee :D

Hope spurs can survive in Apr...our bench was all youngsters on Sat.
