Still no excuse for such a poor performance from the Red Devils....absolutely abysmal showing...midfield not creating not holding...aga 10 men they still had difficulty keeping ball...cant pick out a good performance from any players on the field tonight...maybe Giggs? considering his age he lasted a pretty high tempo game....Man U needs a revamp really...they are top not because they played well but other top sides played worse or self destruct...its really quite a joke they are top...im sure Fergie din expect this..given their football...boring unexciting one dimensional pump to the flanks tactics...no guile no creativity...aga Barca or Real...we cant bully them lk wat we did to Arsenal...Sold tevez Ronaldo....no longer the fear factor or that sense of explosiveness or unpredictability abt their football...

Well said!! I will forward it to [email protected]

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Actually, looking at the BPL this season, it is more open and the top teams are losing/drawing more matches than usual.

ManU is at the top now but I think the reason they are actually there is not because they are fantastic. It is simply because the other teams underperformed and are horrible.

Arsenal - Drawing against teams like Wigan and Leeds. WTF!
Chelsea - The collapse in the past two months is nothing short of spectacular.
ManC - Slightly improved but still not quite there yet.
Spurs - The only team that has improved a lot this year (*rubs mouth with chilli*)
Liverpool - I don't even want to start on this one.

The thing is ManU somehow have the luck (some say skill and experience) to dig out and win matches whether it is 1-0 or otherwise. I think the real challenge for them would be when one of the competitors kicks in a consistent run of wins.

Come on Arsenal!!

well said bro.
but how do u explain united unbeaten run?....luck? most likely.
still i would like to belive that we are running on economy mode...save petrol..win can already.
maybe the standard on the whole is getting higher........ the likes of stoke, wigan, blackpool etc are stonger and more adventurous ya?
the relegation battle is gonna be the most exciting this year!

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

There are two sides to Man Utd's leading position currently...... not hindsight, but forward views.....

One, they are lucky thusfar, but efficient, at lower gears still can top the table. Imagine they shift to higher gears.......

Two, they are not worthy to top the tables. Form rules. At current form they will not stay long, presumably because the other teams can shift to higher gears.......

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

sAF asked me to tell you all, no more fast flowing exciting football.
Efficient football is cheaper. One Ronaldo can buy 10 Fletcher.

If you want stars, go support real Madrid man city
If u want football, go support Barcelona or arsenal or spurs.
If you want winner, support man utd!

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

From what I observed so far, Man U's performances are at their peak. Agree the days of fast pace counter attacking football are over for them..When Ronaldo and Tevez were sold, SAF had to change his strategy...using Roon and Berba as his main attacking partnership...

to extract the best from Berba is not thru the high balls they like to pump to him..rather he is one who likes ball at his feet..which is why Rooney is someone he prefers in attack..tt said, Rooney passing are erractic..intention is there but execution more than often not...

Peak why...most players or key players are fit...these days they play ball to Nani for him to do his stupid erractic sometimes spectacular shots or passing...teams know how to play aga Man U and Man U lack predictability in this dept...balls sprayed to Nani always...if not Evra will try to join in the left flank...

They look lk they are in lower gears but my view is that they are performing to the max alr...look lets be realistic..who else in the bench can we call for? all the key players are playing (not w reference to Pool match) rather the season as a whole...so for those who think we are playing lower gears or our form will improve..just continue watching...hope im wrong...their gameplay has deteriorated for past two seasons...v direct and predictable..up aga quality teams u see Fergie shoring up midfield w 5...playing Roon upfront...more than often ineffective...

Rooney is overhyped..Berba is my man for his technique and class..fergie just wants energetic players hence Rooney first choice...Berba will flourish say under teams lk Spurs or Arsenal...just look at his performances for Spurs and u will see his performances are better there...

Spurs are the most improved team and Man U shld play lk them! Fast swift football w explosiveness...Bales the man!

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I think die hard fans will want to see Man U win...cos its in our blood! (ehhhh...hahahha!) but I want see them play well and not lk some Div 1 team w no football brain..run run run run....lucky shoot score win...come on....sometimes we have to stop defending their weakenesses...this Man U team is way off from previous sides...Fletcher is good but may not be good enuff on world stage in foreign competitions...evans..i like him when he started but he seems to have gone south..Anderson cant score enuff..another bunny energisier with no passing ability (shocking considering he is brazilian), Carrick (cant turn, slow, square passing...think might as well play me, i can pass to Rio and Vidic more times than he does), Rooney (biggest disappointment.....exploded onto the scene at 16...look like who now? Emil Heskey and Kevin Davies except w more goals..easy to mark him..like to stray off into flanks where he is easily cut off...then spray square ball to midfield....)

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I am a die-hard Utd fan, but I don't want Utd to win with this squad.

I believe this is the worst squad Utd ever had. Without a reason to shore up the squad, management will never allow Utd to buy anyone from Schweinsteger to Kaka............

I don't agree that Man Utd is playing at their best - none of the midfields and strikers are on form at all, except perhaps Anderson. Valencia and Hargreaves have not contributed. Giggs, Obertan, Nani, Carrick and Fletcher are hardly anchormen........ Rooney, Berbatov are clearly below par. Hernandez is kept on leash. I have to say the back line is the most consistent thusfar this season. Hence their small wins........

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

well it seems like all united fans here think that we aren't really playing up to the usual standard.(maybe we are on a transition period)
HOwever in my opinon, we dun look like losing too ya?Let see far we progess...

i think the acid test wll be against spurs!

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

The real test is when champion league starts. U will see man utd slipping away.

:shakehea:

To be honest, and I think you would agree with me on this. The ManU teams of a few seasons ago were more deserving of the victories. They played much better and attractive football. Just like Arsenal pre-Wenger, George Graham days. 1-0 to the Arsenal and we shut up shop. I don't hear many people singing 1-0 to the Arsenal much (except when we win 1-0, course)

The thing is basically this. If this is the best out of ManU's performance, then I think that eventually the luck will run out and they will falter. However, if they are going on their first or second gear (economy mode) and if they can kick it up to higher gears, they can be very good.
(*rub mouth with chilli*)

Actually, the true acid test is when you come to The Emirates.

Btw Arsenal gear always stuck. Can only play in D. Cannot shift to DS.

haha! i certainly hope they are not firing 100% yet. Hope I am wrong anyways...you r right in that we are unable to bring in quality players given the tight rein on transfer budget. Man U form seems to coincide with the loss of Valencia...Nani is sporadic..we have not replaced tevez nor ronaldo...hence suffering a loss of exciting gameplay..I would point out that SAF made the best out of the mediocre squad...great mgr indeed.
