Arsenal playing Wolves this weekend.

Come on wolves......:shoot:

Seriously, don't think wolves will repeat that kind of performance consecutively.

You'll never know. A top of the table team can lose to the one at the bottom. A second placed team can surrender a 4 goal lead in the second half. Very hard to predict these days.

After cooling down, if I were to look at the weekend's results, actually we gained a point on ManU so it is not that bad after all. If, before the game, someone offered me a ManU loss and an Arsenal draw, I would take it. It's just the capitulation in the second half for Arsenal that stings so much.

Arsenal's confidence may be low and the midweek international break doesn't help. Wolves confidence would be sky high. Sometimes it is about the players' confidence

If I were a neutral gambling man, I wouldn't mind a punt on Wolves but since I'm a Gooner, I have to say that Arsenal gonna win it.

that's one way to look at it (glass half full).

I tend to see it as Arsenal losing 2 points to ManU.... (glass half empty) :verysad:

Man C gain..... Since both Arsenal and Man U were leading.....

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I see it as Man U's gain :). Man U has great character, so losing to a bottom club will see Man U bounce back strongly, and Man City will be soundly trounced this weekend and a certain Man City player will eat his words.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

All of you have very valid points.

Longhorn,
This is true. We could have been two points closer so that makes me frustrated. So I try to console myself that it is one point gained instead. I tell myself that if at the start of the day someone offered me a ManU loss and a draw with Newcastle, I probably would have taken it upfront as we are gaining ground. I keep reminding myself of this to make the best of a bad situation.

Etan,
Yeah, ManC the biggest winners this weekend. They gained ground on everybody. Liverpool too gained some ground. Good for them!

Ktnpl,
Spoken like a true blooded fan. Cheers!
As a gooner, I'm not sure what to hope for in this weekend's Manchester derby. I think I'll wish for a draw.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

It was Man City who emerged as a sole winner last weekend.

Chelsea lost in terms of pride and confidence, given that they lost to a team who sold their best asset to them. And Liverpool were playing without the 2 new weapons, AWAY from Anfield.

Arsenal also lost in pride, especially after a 4-goal lead. A 4-4 scoreline after a 4-0 lead is worse that losing 1-0 in terms of confidence. So yeah, perhaps a 1-point consolation relative to Man Utd and Chelsea, but should not be viewed as a 1 point WON.

Man Utd's case is half empty half full. Yes, lost to bottom team, lost 3 points. But is it better to lose to Wolves and trounce Man City, or beat Wolves and lose to Man City? This weekend will tell........

Taking into consideration it is a derby match, score at 1-1, if this is the winning goal, it should be the goal of the season.
