Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

This PRC driver is not our average FT. He is obviously a multimillionaire who would have definitely contributed to the economy of Singapore. His offsprings would probably be true blue Singaporean in time to come.

Too bad he treat his life and those around him recklessly.... he ended up with a bad name even after losing his life. Such a waste of youth and $$$.... knn a Ferrari 599!

Re: Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

Singaporeans are worse than any FT I know whenever they are overseas. We talk big, we act like swinging dicks and everyone owes us money

I was ashamed to be around Singaporean tourist during my Japan tour. Like Mw, I pretend to be Japanese but I did it by keeping silent around them....

Comfort Delgro launched donation drive for family of late cabby Cheng Teck Hock

Comfort Delgro has launched a donation drive for the family of the late cabby Cheng Teck Hock (pic left)who passed away yesterday after being involved in a horrendous traffic accident in Bugis.

Mr Cheng was driving his cab past a traffic junction when a red Ferrari appeared out of nowhere and rammed into him, overturning his vehicle on the spot.

The Ferrari driver, a PRC ‘foreign talent’ by the name of Ma Chi died on the spot while the Japanese passenger in Mr Cheng’s cab passed away hours later in hospital.

Mr Cheng suffered from massive bleeding in his brain, lungs and liver and was declared brain dead in Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

He passed away at 7.07pm yesterday evening.

Mr Cheng has been working as a taxi driver for more than ten years and is the sole breadwinner of the family. He leaves behind his wife Madam Lim Choo Eng and three children between the age of 16 and 21.

He did not buy any insurance for himself and his family as he was unable to afford the premiums.

His eldest daughter just graduated from a local polytechnic and has to put her plans to study in a university on hold because of her father’s unfortunate demise.

His two younger sons are taking their ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels this year.

Singaporeans can donate to Mr Cheng’s family either in person at his wake under Blk 306 Canberra road, from 13-17 May 2012 or sent a cheque to Comfort Delgro:

Cash donations can be dropped off at the cashier located next to the general service counter on level 1 of Comfort Delgro office located in Sin Ming during office hours (Mondays-Fridays, 8am-5.30pm) by end of this month.

Members of the public can also make cheques payable to “LIM CHOO ENG” and mail them to:

THE CHENG FAMILY
c/o Comfort Transportation Pte Ltd
383 Sin Ming Drive
Singapore 575717
Attn: Customer Service Centre

Donors should indicate their names on the back of their cheques.

On behalf of Cabby Cheng’s family, we would like to thank all drivers and well-wishers for their thoughts and donations.

.Is sharing information on how to contribute to demised family in this accident thread, considered OT?

I beg to differ.

Re: Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

Actually, it is because I'm working so hard to pay off my house mortgage I can't afford any holidays anywhere :(

Re: Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

I wanna donate - but who is Lim Choo Eng?

Re: Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

bottom line is the perceived difference is the treatment of FT and singaporean that seems to be the issue.

Re: Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

Good point..will they match the public contribution or at what %..by asking donation from public doesn't mean they done their part.

Re: Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

I would actually like to donate to the innocent passenger's family as well...I bet her parents cried all the way from where she came from and would have to pay costs of repatriation of her body or remains back...

Re: Two killed, 3 injured in Rochor Road accident

the impt question is if the driver is drunk, will the insurance do a payout to the families?

Hearsay she was Japanese. Maybe you can help translate our condolences to her family when they arrive?

Insurance is not that important as in this case, the guilty one is rich and his estate can pay out any sum claimed by the victims' estate.

..let's hope the Jap lady's frds & fellow country mates rally around her family too...if her financial background / circumstances renders it necessary...

...heartbreaking indeed...4 her folks..
