This is a very major acquisition unlike getting a regular bimmer. I will only decide upon physically seeing the car in the metal. Will need to wait a few more months for the first batches of GT3 to arrive. I am also following the US forums closely for any news of issues with the new GT3. These all will decide whether I go PI or Stuggart for the GT3. The other option is of course a used 458. People who knows me know i don't utter shit. When I say i plan to buy something, I always do. I won't however, rush into things, at least not for such big ticket items. I am not that loaded to be changing supercars at my whims and fancy. While waiting for the GT3 to arrive, my needs have also changed as I have recently started go-karting and bought my own kart. That takes away some of the desire to track my cars as I get my fix from karting, which is not only more raw and direct, but significantly cheaper.

Well if you're gonna track it's pretty obvious which one to get right? If you're not tracking, the choice is also clear. That's what I mean.

That itself can be misleading. I have heard different stuffs from different workshops. In fact, I consider them to be least reliable. I trust owners' first hand feedback more in fact.

haha hanging out at garages ive found frm owners waiting there also how much repairs cost... i dont own any porsche but heard frm owners how expensive replacement parts can b, n thats especially relevant if ure gona buy PI porsche. I thot my M parts were ex but certain porsche parts can b super ex, to d pt i wonder maybe its better 2 buy from AD instead!

Not so simple bro. If tracking, need to know whether the car is built to last cos that will decide whether u go PI or Stuggart. A problematic car is better off going with the AD due to warranty claims. I have read from Rennlist that some GT3 owners are experiencing power loss/warning lights issue with the engine while tracking, so keeping a close watch on this!

I am karting at Johor, Plentong. I don't like the Jurong circuit. It's too short for my liking. I plan to either kart here when the permanent circuit is built in Punggol (so i hear) or when the Peter Lim Iskandar circuit is ready. U are most welcome to join me at Plentong if u fancy :) I will even lend u my new kart, but u must go 1 round in their crappy rental kart and wear their shower cap first :p

BMW parts (M or not) are generally very affordable. That sounds counter intuitive, but it's generally cheaper than even japanese parts.

Re: Which would you rather buy?

Since you don't track, there is hardly anything to worry about.

I have seen all sorts of high end luxuries being driven hard over 6-7 yrs of tracking and nothing beats Porsche in terms of reliability and robustness...
My previous 997 Mk1 GT3 and a few of my buddies' also, had zero issue for a good ownership of 3-4yr with 10 track days per year. Some burned the clutch but that's because of the driving not the car.

Having said that, nothing is perfect. I saw a handful of 911s with coolant leak.

Lambo is pretty strong engine wise but I have also been told one regularly tracked SL had cracked gearbox after the owner sold it.

Ferrari, too beautiful to be tracked. Sayang lah........

Re: Which would you rather buy?

Any updates clar? I am wondering what is your final decision. The GT3 from Eurokars is going at 620k, or 750k fully spec-ed before COE.

I just test drove the Mclaren 12C last week and will be heading to Sepang this Sunday to sample the GT3 in a Porsche event. Finally, getting closer to making an informed decision :)

Re: Which would you rather buy?

Just heard that GT3s will not make it to Sepang this sunday due to unknown reasons. Only C2S and TT will be there and both are of no interest to me so I will not be going. Hope to get my $ back. KNN...what does a man have to do to drive a GT3

Re: Which would you rather buy?

Are you gonna give up either M5 or M3 or is the next ride gonna add to the lovely pair?

Mixed feelings. Firstly, the suspension on that car is out of this world. Its supercar handling mixed with supreme suspension makes it very hard to wrap my head around it. It's by far the most usable to drive around. U never need to worry about bumps or pot holes. Good nicely weighted steering and very accurate and responsive. Not a whole lot of feedback, but u don't miss it on this car. Very ergonomically designed with good visibility all round and easy to place the car. It feels small too. Downside: turbo lag. It's got way more power than I ever need, so absolute speed is not high on my list. Tried a short burst to 8500 rpm and it was fast as hell, but lag is evident. What i hate most is prob the damn doors. It's hard to get in and out and personally, i don't care for such fancy doors. The high carbon sills also made it harder to get in and out. It's a good car no doubt!

Re: Which would you rather buy?

I love it too , the handling is unbelievable on streets but track not sure, should be good as well. But for the same dough I definitely consider the 458 speciale.

the mp4 creams the 458 at sepang for the moment. im not even sure the special will get near the time it has set.
