Re: Which would you rather buy?
Guys, I spoke with my brother on this and he highlighted the various considerations that would make it not feasible for u guys. Here's why...When importing a car from abroad, there are many unknown variables. The chief among them being nobody is sure how much the car would be taxed by customs. Regardless of how much you declare the value of the car, customs sometimes have their own ideas. Whatever they deem is the value is the basis for all the duties you need to pay and I don't make noise with him either way. Basically ask yourself this: You prepared to commit to buy without knowing how much your car will be eventually? Secondly, is cash flow. When the car is to be delivered at UK, I would make a substantial sum of payment for the agent in UK. Both of these 2 main factors are non-issue when he is importing for me as I would not "dua" him and pull out of the deal. When paying out $, I am not worried that he might go out of business. All these trust between family is non existent with other buyers. As he is not in this business of PI now, he is unlikely to bring in your desired car and sell to you afterwards. He is basically doing me a favour by doing all the necessary paper work and prob charge a small processing fee and some loan comm. I have been told by him that GT3 build slots are opening up in UK now. I am monitoring the experience from owners who have collected to see if there is any major issue with the car before taking the plunge. I will of course, give the AD a chance to see if they can offer any substantial discount before going PI. I have signed up for their Feb test session at Sepang costing $1k+. Not a huge price to pay to sample the new TT and GT3![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
