Dad had his tint done at CnL.. Haven had problems.. Pretty good so far

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

Did CnL last week so far so good except they accidently short-circuit my ERP transponder. Had to go to VICOM to get it replaced. Fortunately detected earlier, or gonna pay a heavy fine at the gantry.

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

Just did my Window tinting with CNL, the service is ok but the workmanship Sucks big time!!!

Windscreen Tint was not install properly, there are blur marks and whole windscreen looks dirty. Initially was told by CNL that it will subside after 2 weeks. after the 2 weeks the blur marks still there. Went down again... CNL redo the whole windscreen. I requested them to check for other part of the tint since it should be cured by then. They told me checked and confirmed. But now i am still have bubbles on my Rear windscreen... wakow!! got to go down again.

Alot of time and effort wasted.

During my first visiting, CNL told me that bubbles at the Dot matrix area (Edge of the Windscreen for E90), will disappear after 2 weeks. But during my second trip down, was told by another of the CNL staff that it is normal for Dot matrix area to have uneven bubbles. Double standard!!!

Hai....

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

Just came back from CNL Paya Lebar branch. The service there is good... they changed the those problematic films... i.e. bubbles. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Must wait for 2 weeks again for the installation to cure...to see the actual result.

Walao, my CnL appointment is this coming Saturday at Toh Guan. Don't tell me it's at this branch you're experiencing bad quality. I think I pull out liao.

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

One more thing to note is while they install the solar film for your windscreen...CNL will open up your windscreen sensor plastic cover behind your rear view mirror, they will need to remove the sensor wiring, make sure they wire it back with the correct looping. If not, the plastic cover is unable to close properly. It may drop out while you are driving which is very dangerous!!

My first visit to CNL at Toh Guan, the slacker actually didnt route it properly ended up the plastic cover wasn't close up fully. It dropped half way while i was driving. During my second visit after another group of installers while re-install back my front windscreen, they route it back properly.

Just be very careful... different workmanship standard...

If you happen to go back for re-install, request them to check your car for bubble outside of the workshop... where there is sunlight. In the workshop, the lighting is very difficult to see any bubbles especially if you are having dark tint films...

Just my experience and lesson learnt to share.

Fatcheeks!!

Can try 3M no regrets til today.... :laughlik:

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

After going down CNL to re-install for my film for the 3rd time and still my front windscreen is still have some wavy strokes, it is visible from naked eye.... :furious:

Starting to regret install CNL... eventhough their service is excellent!! Got to go down 4th time... really waste of my time.

Question to all Bros!!
CNL quoted that there will be uneveness bubbles at edge surrounding the entire rear windscreen area because of the Dot Matrix on your E90 screen. Is it true?

Do you experience similar uneveness bubbles at around the rear windscreen due to Dot Matrix and the demister line with other brands Solar films?

Cheers!

my vkool solar film has this effect too. but more pronounced on the side windows. I have used CnL before and their wavy/streaky effect isn't as bad as Vkool. In my experience, CnL will redo the job as many times as it takes, if you find any problems.

CnL also warned me that the edges may start to "unstick" from the glass on the dot matrix part. But so far it has remained OK. Cos that section is so small, i think it won't be a problem. Just get them to even it out again if it does loosen off. Anyway, since they go and cut the film to extend to that part, it should be their responsibility to fix.

i have no bubbles on my CnL film, but when the light hits the demister line, there is a weird effect. I just left it and got used to it. My Vkool film however, has dust bubble trapped in the rear windscreen section. The VKool shop at Sin Ming is not as good as CnL Toh Guan facility in terms of being dust free, and CnL Toh Guan takes better care to keep your car clean too.

Sometimes, seems like it's really your luck on who works on your car that particiular day. Some have had good results with CnL, some with VKool. For me, my CnL experience was much better than VKool. Maybe you can try going for the VKool outlets that are linked to PML. Better yet, go check out 3M. Haven't heard anything bad about them (yet). Good luck

You guys should really try DS Specialty Services in East Coast for 3M tints. They may be aliitle more expensive but you will be amazed at the quality and workmanship of their work. I have went there twice and my experience with them was nothing less than perfect. I highly recommend them to you and the ppl doing these tints there have been there for a long time so they are very familiar. I just did my tints for my new car and it looks absolutely fabulous.

I went there yesterday and got it done. Was supposed to go for V-kool but changed my mind at the last minute. The boss wasn't there, but his 2 staff were great and honest people, with efficient, quality installation with no cut around IU unit. The light transmission after the 3M film for the front and rear were measured to be 75% and 35% respectively.. so I'm safe from LTA's nuisance.

Paid $900. Worth it IMO.

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

i'm more or less "decided" on 3M for my E90

my priorities are

1. look (my ride exterior is alpine white and i prefer dark tink look -> lta compliant)
2. no inteference to IU & portable GPS that comes with the FL E90
3. heat resistance and UV rejection -> i believe 3M is on par or better compare with competitors

what package should i go for ? budget $800 to $900
the contact person in DS Specialty Services is Danny ?

all things being equal, my view on solar film installation most importantly is "workmanship"
have read many posts with conflicting views on compliments and complaints. i guess i have to take the chance.

thanks !

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

If i want to go for more heat resistance and UV rejection, which tint is better?
