2010 - new 5 series pricing

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

newbie question:

with all these normal/sport/dynamic settings and what have you, we cannot use aftermarket coilover/arb/etc liao right ? so, the wheel gap is normal 4 fingers .. darn

and those who go for the 535i for the driving experience invariably prefer their money be spent on driver-centric options rather than comfort-oriented ones like Comfort Access, Soft Close Doors and Parking Assistant.

otherwise why a 535i? might as well get a 523i - same look, same badge, same space. gosh, same-size wheels even.

Agree, bmw is more about dynamic drive, active steering, valvetronic than comfort access, soft close door etc

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

just got call from sales guy. 523 is going at 189k b4 discount, 523 highline at 203k and 535 twin turbo at 268k. 528 not coming in

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

523's price is very close to E250...

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

my ideal way this time round is to get a 528 from PI and spec it to your wish then wait for it to come slowly

imagine we have get all those drive dynamic oriented stuff packed into this car while those unnecessary comfort gadgets deleted then this car comes over in orignal tiny wheel and we upsize it here ..... how nice it would be

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

Price still ok compared to year Dec 2004....then the 525I E60 new model with M54 engine and active steering was $215k...

Soon with COE hitting 50K (I think) 523i will be in 205k region.

not sure about E200.

A friend registered E250 last week, that's how I know.

that will be EXACTLY what i'll do :) the 528i has performance that's similar to the E60 530i, which like its forebears is a distinguished car in its class. with a great chassis, the 528i will be quite a drive.

i dont see why we should waste good money on stuff we dont need or dont want. those comfort-oriented options are not cheap and i'd rather save the money.

i mean, i dont buy a BMW because it can park by itself, even a toyota can do that!! and i like the "thud" when i close my BMW's door, i dont need assistance, thank you.

and guess what, i like pressing my key fob to lock and unlock my car, it somehow adds to the intimacy i have with my car. no, i dont need auto-magic here too, thank you.

and if i'm a Mod Fan, i'll get a 335i instead and load it with BMW Performance parts. i drove a 335i with Performance Power Kit, Performance Suspension and Performance Sport Exhaust. gosh, the experience was fantastic!

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

frankly if one were to get the 528 u might as well jump straight to the 535. 528 is 3L NA which is priced around 250k +. for a little more just go for twin turbos

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

yup 535i the choice...or 530D but too bad not in silipore

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

535i is N55, single twin-scroll turbo

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

All my german friends swear by them and more than 50% cars in Germany are Diesel engine where Turbo works best and the torque is tremendous...btw the price of diesel and gasoline is about the same in germany,,,

I was in my colleague's car in his 530D in autobahn...220km/hr effortless and the pickup is fast......

Somehow.. I prefer the design of current 5 Series.. the angel eyes looks more elegant.. anyway.. SGD 188 for new.. three year later.. can buy at 110k from 2nd market.. that's when I'll upgrade my 525i... :)

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

if used car, i will consider too
but my plan is - get a used 535 or 550 when the next financial crisis strike
there was lots of 530 and occasional 550 in end 08.... too bad my car was only a year old then
