Re: 6.9mil population in 2030 / PM Lee admits govt lacked foresight
I happened to watch CNA last night... there is a new presenter (Teymoor Nabili) sprouting the more is good mantra as well. I was watching with my Hubstation and kept rewinding to catch what he said exactly. Really full of BS...
He ended his "casual inquiry" (his own word) into the effect of immigration on economic performance by saying that Qatar has a a population that is made up of 75% foreigners and is one of the most peaceful country in a troubled region and that must stand for something... so is it about the economy (and hence compare SG with an oil country??) or the harmony of the society that he is talking about?? KNS...
And earlier he kind of mentioned it is a mixed bag and not really conclusive (whether to support more immigration to grow the economy), but towards the end, he said that there is "greater body of evidence" (his own words) to support new blood improves economy... All this is based on his "casual inquiry" into this topic since he has "a lot of experience as an immigrant" where he has been an expat in 6 countries (his own words)...
I wonder if he shares the same resources as the guys who wrote the whitepaper.
My friend said let the brainwashing begin... I say if you can be brainwashed with this incoherent "argument", then you deserve each other.
