If bo pian need to take photo during hot sun, try using dark tint color filter to minimize the contrast.

Kenn that's the problem with dark cars and light background...Try over expose it one stop then do photo edit. overexpose shot will bring out details of dark car slightly and then compensate it with photoshop. maybe will work better =) can try.
Used polarising lens in some shots. Still, hard to compensate for the over-exposed background. Contrast too great. Try taking over noon time with a light-coloured background and you will know what I mean........ Nevertheless, still learning. Need to take more shots to sharpen the skills.

This shot was taken with Alvin666's Canon Ixus..... wrong lighting angle, IMO. Needed a flash diffuser in front of the car to compensate for the bright backdrop.

Yeah noon time not good for pics as light source too direct and too harsh, you wont get a nice gradual tone that will enhance your car's lines/details..

OK better bring our discussion back to your thread hahaha..

Re: ACU's E90 San Er Ling i (Photoshoot & MODS Diary)

u def need a ND filter during noon time..best is shoot during 4-5pm where the sun is not directly on top...

Acupunch's photos has a nice warm effect...and the trees look like autumn shades..very nice and sharp tones..

perhaps can play with depth of field?

For those who not sure what's ND filter, is 'Neutral Density Filter', From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia,
"In photography and optics, a neutral density filter or ND filter is a "grey" filter. An ideal neutral density filter reduces light of all wavelengths or colors equally. The purpose of standard photographic neutral density filters is to allow the photographer greater flexibility to change the aperture or exposure time, allowing for more control, particularly in extreme circumstances."

Bro Xavier, thanks for the tips. will find out the cost of that filter. I personally prefer warm colour photography compare with cool like those Kenn took for his car at One Degree 15. I felt warm tones work best to bring out dark colors car. e.g. gold or liquor adverts normal choose to compose their product against dark color tone background. Those are something I had learned during my college days. As for 'depth of field' shoot on such big object like car, is very hard to get it compose. I did try some DOF composite, but it didn't turn out well enough. still learning to used to the camera to its full potential. do you do photography too? attached is a shot I tried. can't get any interesting reflection on that mirror.
