Re: bad experience in PML
Hi all,
I'll just be absolutely honest here and state for the record is that:
My SMG actuater gave up just shy of 60,000km. (I.e. can't shift properly, car slips into N and i had a limphome mode experience before.) Brought the car into PML and had it looked at, My CSA was very attentive to my problem, and even though i knew she wasn't in the tech department, she was very communicative (call every 2 days, if i couldn't answer, she would leave me updates via voicemail) throughout the week my car was in the workshop.
Now... my CSA doesn't know about me, or whether i came from the forum. I took over the car from the last owner just 2 months ago and had to re-register my name, however my experience with her service was top notch.
On the day i was collecting my car, she was very busy with paperwork and other clients, but still catered to managing the release and explaination of my car's problems etc.
I feel that service is almost quite dependant on who's attending to you, ultimately they are still people given their timelines. I frequent alot of external workshops out there with my previous 3 and even then, there were times things just don't resolved or communicated properly.
It's easy to flame PML or BMW Asia for their service, however good service is hardly( or never) commended nor even mentioned here (because they'll get flamed to bits and be quoted that they're a "rare breed" ! haha). I had lunch with another member just recently and he was being attended to by the same CSA. He said the same thing as me, excellent and communicative skills by same lady, pleasant to work with, in the end, great service from them.
I guess our expectation of the car is alot higher due to the premiums we pay, no surprise there. I personally don't give jackshit about the shocks giving out or creaks happening in our family's civic or corolla. When it happens it's just because......it's a cheaper car. If the same thing happens to my BMW, i feel the pain.
We get all flustered up of a small creak, a wiper not working right, a ding in the door, because it's a BMW.... and ultimately the biggest difference between the 2 cars is a badge and brand. Nothing more really.
I would bet my last dollar that alot of members in here have the same problem(service quality + maintainence and reliability issues) here with external workshops but are willing to look it over and keep their comments to themselves..,My guess it's because of the cheaper price and that they're not the "official" workshop anyway.
For a mere difference in savings, we tend to lower our expectations subconciously.
I messaged taylor666 recently to see whether there was anything i could do to help, but he has since not replied to my PM nor stated the specific problem in our forum.
I'm hoping this isn't a thread purposely out to incite any public backlash to the distributor cause it doesn't help anyway. Blowing it up on local media (been there done that) doesn't work either.
I've seen the management of PML do their best to help a member (regular and new) to resolve their issues, and most if not all of the times it was done well. I'm sure some thread posters in here can attest to that. Heh.
Let's be fair, yes even though things do get on our nerves from time to time, and realise that a BMW is still a machine which has it's faults and niggles...other marques do face the same problem but we don't surf their related forums to know what they face, hence we feel like the only one.
