Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

Re: Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

hi, No I am not sponsored by Euroauto neither do I get any discount. Also I am not related to the owner. It is not my call to ask him to be a site sponsor.

Hello William, does EuroAuto sponsor you? Why not get it registered as site sponsor?

Re: Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

Yes I agreed with you totally and I got very bad experience with one famous BMWS in Alexandra and another famous site sponsor BXO in SingMing. Just change the name a little bit.
The one in Alexandra did not do a good job though I trusted them and just do whatever they said that need to be repaired or replaced parts. It took me three or four rounds of services to treat the oil leak problem. Imagine the labor cost and time wasted that one need to spend. The pricing is also on the high side.
The BXO charged me pre-inspection fee of $80 when I sent my car in to check for steering wheel issue. I spoke to the boss and he told me since it was my first visit, this is necessary. What a BS!
I chanced upon EuroAuto when my car was stalled due to GB issue. my car was towed to PML initially thinking since this is major issue and is better go back to the original WS. PML quoted me $12,000. So if you want to go back to PML, prepare for big buck.
The two WS quoted close to $6k
EuroAuto solved my GB issue with less than 4k.
I must stressed this is based on my personal experience. Well as to whether the WS wants to be a site sponsor, it is entirely a business call, judging by the number of cars in his WS, he is doing a good job.

Sounds like a WS, not sure about its background though.

What I am saying, is that in the past, many of us were newcomers once and some of us had been misled by "word of mouth" or "third party" referrals, and got our rides or previous rides f'ked up bad as a result of f'ked up workshops that professed to be or were "recommended" as BMW experts. I have had one f'ked up "BMW expert" dealer WS (obviously not a site sponsor) pour 10, yes TEN, bloody liters of EO in my ride before because the mechs couldn't find a dipstick.

What I am not saying, is whether EuroAuto is a good or bad workshop. But if it is truly a good BMW specialist workshop, perhaps more forummers will benefit if it becomes registered properly as a site sponsor and stands up to scrutiny by more pairs of eyes.

Congrats on finding a reliable workshop, most of us have our fair share of painful stories to tell. Anyway, having another good site sponsor will be for the greater benefit of all. Especially with more and more BMWs on the road. Cheers!

Report Update:
Driven close to 9,000km now - almost time for new oil. And oil level indicator still shows FULL! I'm a happy driver! My once an oil sucker machine is now merely sipping. No need to carry additional top-up bottle of oil in my boot! BTW, I'm using Penzzoil Ultra Euro 5W40. Maybe can switch to 5W30 the next round to give car more oomph!

Report:
I've driven about 3000km since my valve seals change. Before the replacement, this would be about the time where a 1L top up is required. Now, oil level gauge is still showing "full". So I'm happily certain that the seals change have resolved my oil consumption issue.

Now, another issue has popped up. Oil level gauge now a little erratic. Sometime showing me "full", then it may just drop to "half", or "3/4", and then back to "full" again. Sigh.... Maybe it's time to change the oil level sensor at next servicing...

I did a top overhaul last year till now the engine oil is still full 4/4. This is my 3rd engine oil change already.. I should say the workshop I went did a gd job.. I dun have any more top up engine oil problem. Those bro having top up engine oil issues can consider to bite the bullet & change the seals..

Did anyone go to Euroauto and resolved the EO loss issue, ie replace valve seals. How much was the damage.

Try German Castrol 0w-30, real smooth!

Guys. Here's the update of my repairs.

Went on last Sat to Francis's workshop at 9am. Left my car there till 3pm in the afternoon.

The workshop guys did a great job I say. They even recommended me some tips to prevent valve gasket harden easily.

The only thing that let me down is the long queue going into Malaysia at customs. It's crazy even on weekends.

Getting out of hand I think.

Now I'm monitoring the engine oil almost every day. Still at full level. :)

PM me for the repair costs and address.

Cheers.
