Read oil comparison that Penzzoil being one of the best performing synthetic.
But read too that Shell bought Penzzoil and their Helix synthetic is actually Penzzoil. True?
Otherwise where can we buy Penzzoil synthetic?
Thank you brother.

I bought my Penzoil from Mx-trading. Address: The Frontier Blk 50 Ubi Ave 3 #05-13. I dunno bout others but I dont feel any difference no matter which engine oil I use.

It used to be 1ltr of oil top up every 6000km. Then it came down to 5000km. Then 4000km. Then 3000km. Now it's 1ltr of engine oil top up required every 2xxx km!!! Buay tahan! Plus with current COE prices, cannot buy new car leh! Sianz!

Workshop recommended engine valve seals change. Parts are cheap - I think less than $2 per seal (there are total of 16qty for the 320i). But labour is the expensive deal - paid about SGD400 in all for the seals change. But at least for now, car feels better to drive with, and the oil drinking has so far stopped.... Will report again at the next oil change interval. So my E90's no more thirsty now!

Hey, he charged me 1200SGD for my valve seals change! . Anyway, I had other jobs done as well, oil seperator valve cover, a few hoses, cylinder head bolt , and labor for control arm changed. I guess it adds up to be about right.

Haha. Now I'm feeling special. Maybe he gave me regular customer price? :p No lah, I think the workshop charges quite fairly one. I was there specifically for valve seals replacement...

So I guess its a fair price. But 4 days seem very long leh. My downtime was about 1 day.

Sgd400 is cheap bro.. don't mind sharing where to change? I might need soon too.

Re: Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

I also need to change seals, soon... Now is about 4000km per top up.
I can "feel" it sipping on the engine oil. Soon it will be drinking.
Can share WS?

Dear bro LKM,

Thanks for sharing this info. im also a fellow E90 driver and noticed recently after servicing and travelled 1.5kkm my oil level dropped tremendously by 2litres. no traces of oil leakage from caps or into any gasket areas.
Hope by changing the valve seals can rectify this issue.

Can you kindly share with me workshop info and total amount u spent? thanks so much !

Re: Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

Any bros know of any local BMW specialise WS willing to perform valve seal/gasket changed? I call up 2 site sponsor WS all said top overhaul, they don't do seal/gasket change only :(
My car is 7yrs old and just want to drive on till the COE price is lower (hoping) and then changed car. Do not want to spend thousands to overhaul.
I know many bros here go to JB for servicing. But I am noob to JB, had not travel to JB for the past 10yrs.

Re: Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

currently my car is under overhaul too.
due to the engine oil sipping issue.

the ws ppl have quite alot to say.

1. they will suggest u overhaul cos its the only fool-proof method they think will rectify ur oil leakage.
2. they tell u if u wanna do valve sealing , it make not solve the problem.
3. Piston rings need to also be replaced.

currrently my car is in the WS doing overhaul TOP and bottom, and downtime is 10 days.
Hopefully the overhaul will do the problem good.

my ws guy said because bmw is climatized for cold countries, singapore's weather and temperature causes the valve seal and piston rings to wear and tear greater than anywhere else, over years, we will notice engine oil sipping and being burnt off by the internal bleeding.

by merely changing valve seal, u can stop the engine oil leakage for the moment, but no guaranteed :)
overhaul cost about $3-4k.

wanna drive bmw or conti cars, this is the price to pay.
as agonizing as it gets :(

Re: Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

honestly, you got to see your priorities.
Most ws will wanna help u rectify and solve the issue but in order to check the origin of the engine oil leakage,
they need to open up the engine, into the piston, gasket and valve seals.

most of the time it is valve seal, but if budget restricts u, u can try doing valve seal first.
bcos many bros also tried and doing fine.
unless ur oil leak goes into aircon, exhaust or anywhere else, u really got to solve it.

according to my ws guy, he said if oil leak drips on the floor, that kind still not so bad.
if really leak until cant be found, that one really is severe.

to refill engine oil every 2000km can burn our wallets mannnnnn.... :(

so i suggest you find out the origin of your oil leak issue by ur trusted workshop. or i can intro mine to you.

*thanks bro LKM for his help and also being so nice to recommend me his ws too.

Just go to that JB Workshop and get it done. I think someone has posted the address and the map in page 3 or so. LKM has also listed the price which is less than 1k. I have fixed almost everything from this WS and I m pretty sure they will do a good job on your car. U do not want to wait till your car reaches 9.9 years before everything breaks down then you will be in dilemma whether to fix it or not.

My suggestion, 1st time go to the WS and ask for the parts to be purchased b4 going back for the repair.

Re: Case of My E90 (320i) Disappearing Oil - 1 liter every 2000++km!!

Well, it's a personal choice. JB workshops will definitely offer lower labour charges due to their lower costs (both living and operating costs). Local workshops offer convenience. Your choice. In terms of quality, it depends alot on who you are dealing with. There are amazing mechanics both in Sg and in JB. Similarly, there are also scums on both sides.

I'm a cheapo and love to source for value. Similarly, I purchase quite abit of stuff online from Amazon and some Chinese websites. Although I'm sure there are many like me, there are also enough people buying from local shops here for them to survive. Are there risks associated when I buy stuff online? Sure! Sometimes, my shipment gets delayed. And occasionally, it gets lost too. But that's a choice I made, and I accept the associated risks.
