6.8/l ..
city driving... i tot that is normal.. i guess not liao
any bro experience smell from exhaust??
smell like petrol , WS say its normal for a 5yrs old car.
but when i went to PML , the service lady told me.
" No.. BMW car should not have this problem.. you better send in to check"
Haiz.. dun noe to send in bo..please advise

Outside WS the $2k is repair gearbox.
PML $10k is change new gearbox.

Petrol smell not normal ......

My old E60 have the petrol smell when engine just started and cold, warm liao no more. I also interested to know what cause this.

Why run rich when its old?
Air mass sensor or something no working as effectively ?

Outside WS the $2k is repair gearbox.
PML $10k is change new gearbox.

WAH so if repair so many things after that total charge all in might be more than the OMV Liao lor???

Bro Jason8822 is correct! Change diff things at different time la, dun think u will buy a car that require u to change everything. most importantly go to a honest workshop. trusted and honest is different, u can trust them but they might not be honest. kena before last time. haha

My current and previous BMWs all run rich during cold start, even when they were new. I could smell the petrol from the exhaust whenever I am out of the car. Couldn't detect any fuel smell when I am inside though.

But the smell was not so bad when new.
And, you should no smell anything when inside - if can, something is very wrong with your car's fuel tank liao

I just went to do a smell test on my F10. Can smell petrol for about 3 mins, after that no smell liao.

After 5 years, my E60 had the following repaired/replaced:

Gearbox
Valvebody
Front control arms
Aircon compressor
All tubings for the coolant system
Coolant expansion tank
Brake discs
Ignition coils
Suspension dampers and coils
Alternator
Battery (change every 2 years)
Active steering sensor
Fuel pump
Headlamp rewiring

The problem is that they fail one at a time. Total amount spent was still way lower than the OMV lah.

Almost a new car now ......

Yes, it looks and handles like a brand new car even though it was almost 10 years old when I sold it. Oh I forgot to mention that I got Mike from SWC to respray the car in celebration of its 6th birthday. The workmanship was excellent!
