E90 engine oil leak experience

Changing of 4 brake disc at Francis there , labour rm180 ? Too ex or market rate? Or I should change more things to share the labour cost?

Hi Ghimster,

I used to go there to service and replace parts. They charged the labour individually. Example, if you change 4 brake disc, one charge. Engine mounting another fee.

Hi, can some kind soul please PM the workshop address and contact at JB too...... Need to send for servicing and check as I just got the second hand 320i E90 last week, thanks.

I was reading past thread dated 2011 and asked to join BMW Malaysia for the details. Me too, facing oil leak issue.
It's one of their top recommended workshop in JB. Just 30min from both customs. Shall try my luck next week.

Anyone else go jb for servicing and parts change? Do you leave the car at the workshop and wander off or wait at the workshop?

Hi,

for 318i, if there is an issue with engine valve cover causing oil seepage (not severe leaking), will it be advisable to replace it immediately?

Well, I always like to keep my BM in tip top condition so I would change the gasket - quite a simple job that can be done in any good BM workshop. The seepage is not serious but I would want my engine clean... enjoy your ride.

Thanks for the advise pal!

Hi Bros, my 2010 3201 is having serious oil leakage since this week all the sudden. Noticed honey brown oily liquid on the floor since Monday. Strange smell from aircon when engine starts.

Which workshop is good for me to bring down for a look? And about how much to check?

My 320i is in the ws now due to oil leak 3 weeks after delivery. It"s within dealers' 3months warranty period.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

I had a similar problem on my 2006 e90 - oil leak in engine bay. Mileage approx 100k. Sent to PML, and they quoted about $2k. Got a quote from one of the sponsor workshop here and was quoted $1k+ to replace "all related seals" to stop leak problem.

Not convinced, I brought car to my regular workshop in JB who specialises in BMW's. After diagnosis, mech replaced 2 o-rings at oil filter housing, and 4 more o-rings on the 2 VANOS solenoids. Viola! Oil leak no more and I'm poorer by less than RM270 - which includes my regular servicing. I brought my own oil, oil filter and air filter though....

And I must say that these guys are super pro! They even did a complete engine wash for me - meticulously cleaning EVERY item that has oil stain. Now my engine bay looks almost like new again! Hahaha!

If anyone here are feeling adventurous enough to head north to service your car, PM me for contact. Just to clarify, I'm NOT related to workshop in anyway. Just a happy customer after saving 90% of what the workshops here tried to charge me...

can share which workshop u went in JB? Tyvm.

The post by lkm is dated 2011, 5yrs ago. Is the info still valid?

Too many 'down' post here which defeat the aim of acquiring a marque ride. Time to post some 'up' stories.... anyone?

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

I have the same problem too. Need to top up 1L of engine oil between 1-2 weeks or around 1000km. Finally, decided to send my car to Francis workshop for him to do a check on the engine. At his workshop, he did a check on my engine and found no external oil leak around the engine area. He idle my car for 10-15min than rev on the accelerator and i saw white smoke coming out from the exhaust. He told me seals are gone and need to do an engine top overhaul. Quoted me the price for the top overhaul and told me need about 4 days to do the job. Leave the car on the spot (Saturday) and collect it back last Thursday morning.
Since last Thursday till now (travel around 600km) engine oil level still show max. Before I did the top overhaul, the engine oil level would have gone down to the mid level by now (travel around 600km). So still monitoring. If after one month and still no need to top up 1L of engine oil, I will post some pictures of my engine (before and after the top overhaul).
Hi Bro, can PM me the workshop address and Francis contact too? how much for the top o/h cost ?

Look at post #625 for Francis contact. Was there last week, WS still busy as ever
