F30 Teething Problems

Hi,

Thought a thread should be started on what new F30 owners face so that everyone can look out for them when collecting their ride.

Collected mine last Friday.

Blue-Tooth:

Blue-Tooth phone book sync with my iPhone 4S stopped at "E" and the rest are dashes. This one was easy to fix. Had to download the latest software from BMW site and upload the latest software. BT connection now more stable, able to import full phone list, but had to wait a while (too many contacts!). The screen colours on some menus also changed. Initially could not read USB audio file folders, now can.

Lighting

Driver-side leg well does not illuminate when cabin lights are on when opening the door. Will be sending in for check this week.

Strange noise

Soft throbbing noise from behind the passenger side of the dashboard. Happens after 5 mins of the drive. Anyone experience this?

Add to the list guys!

Re: F30 Teething Problems

Bluetooth paired with BB Bold 9900, phone number is transferred but no names, when u dial a number the name appears :huhhuh:

No issue with 4S.

Rubbing noise when rest driver left thigh on the side trim

Stupid engine hood super difficult to unlock/unlatch - lol!

Re: F30 Teething Problems

Wiper unit gone bonkers

Wind noise very loud on drivers side window. General sound insulation not good also, road noise pretty loud

Re: F30 Teething Problems

No problems with my car and overall very satisfied. Only issue which is more of an inherent design is getting used to the high pressure clatter which you cant really hear with the windows up anyway.

Believe to release the hood properly, need to pull the lever firmly two times. Once to pop open the hood, once to release the catch.

Re: F30 Teething Problems

I do agree sound insulation was poor. I went from test driving the new Audi A4, then to the F30 320i and the difference in the amount of sound insulation was apparent.

I asked, how come the engine so loud, road so loud.

My SE said "like that then sporty mah".

WTF...

Re: F30 Teething Problems

Thanks for the valuable feedback guys. Am seriously considering the F30. So that I can lower my expectations and keep my fingers crossed! Lol

Re: F30 Teething Problems

I'm not sure whether it's a must but I've to plug in the USB to my iPhone in order to play music. I remembered I saw from my friend's 5er he just played music via Bluetooth

Also, Internet don't seem to work on the car in anyway I tried(doesnt really matter to me anyway)
When starting up, the engine rattling noise is really loud and I wonder if it's normal...

In the bluetooth pairing menu, make sure you enable the "music" option also...

Re: F30 Teething Problems

Does anyone know why the rear passenger seeatbelt is design as such? Instead of the traditional kind where you pull & latch.. this one need to detach, latch here & there... lol... to owner eventually we get use to it, but everytime you need to carry a passenger they are bound to struggle... especially if we need to use the centre seat is normally means 3 person behind... very tight.. lol

Re: F30 Teething Problems

Dashboard rattling sounds... can pin point exactly where but too lazy to bring it in to have it checked....

PML tech reply is lagi better, 3 and 5 series are sporty, sound insulation not so good, sporty ma.

U wan quiet, should have chosen 7 series.

I went on to show him what F up wind noise is, and he kept quiet and logged in the problem.

This is lagi WTF!!! hahahahhaa

The insulation tho a 3-series, should not be that bad. Nothing compared to my Lexus RX. Quite a diff from the S4 too. Disappointed, should have done a test drive prior to purchase.

I've rattles in front and rear, still waiting for my courtesy car from PML, they said 1 full day to check all noises (incl. suspension and brakes) and 2-3 days to solve them. Goodness.

Another mth before I shoot complaint letter to BMW AG directly. I'm tempted to opt for an upgrade tho, disappointed with F30 built. Power and handling wise, good. Rest, sucks. Hahahahahahaa
