enjoy your 4pot turbo while it last
3pot turbo coming also heard in development 4pot that 2pot switch off running on 50% when power is not required similar like start/stop
soon, 6pot only available in ///M :(

3 pot on 1 series only or up to 5 series? Means next time go MA instead of PML

The engine sound really crap le.

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

I think the cyl deactivation running on 2 pot is going to be a difficult problem.. coupled with the already existing transmission downshift throttle response or watever you call it .. the lag will be insane.

wtknow - yes i do hit gear 8 on hway, but sometimes only gear 7 if under 100kph (morning ~10am kind of traffic), and yes city traffic i think max gear 6 or sometimes 7 (if i am in the mood for coasting slowly)

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

what to do ... bmw answer ... there is always ///M you can buy

It was previsely why I was attracted to BMW

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

Am I right to say 520i (twin turbo) can have ECU remap to 528i (twin turbo)?

yeah i am interested too

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

hate to break this to you ... you are wrong
there is no direct ecu remap 520 to 528. if yes, who wants to buy 528?

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

actually, hearsay can remap 20i to 28i. Just that need to buy new ecu and might need to change exhaust.

Then again, 528i is like the highline version, so that extra 20+ grand not only goes to the extra power.

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

Spend so much might as well buy 528.... got dynamic dampers, soft close, rear curtains some more.

Can the rear curtain be fixed as front curtain. I want front curtain more than rear curtain. Cecilia say one.

I think dynamic dampers is option on 528i...honestly I wish pml will do away with rear curtains and soft close, but give us comfort seat and 4 zone climate.

It is twin scroll single turbo.

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

If I'm not mistaken, gear box also different.

Better just buy 528.. Now got promo from pml also..

Other can consider reliable PI also

Yes. The problem with the F10 is the close gear ratios and it seems to have difficulty finding the right gear when you suddenly want to accelerate. Most of the time when you step hard on the gas pedal, it doesn't downshift right away. And sometimes when it does, it only shifts down one gear. Sports mode helps, but it holds the rpm too high.

I dun wish to haolian
And I hope I'm not being bias
But my f10 n52b30 downshift beautifully and accelerate lavishly
Might have to do with the engine but I love this 8 speed thgy
I would like to invite douggie to try, pls PM me if you are interested

Gearbox for 528i/520i is the same part number. Engine is the one that might differ. There are two versions of 20i engine, compression ratio different. If you have the low compression engine option selected for 20i, the engine will be the same part number as the 28i. Apparently the higher compression ratio is to increase efficiency...but I really doubt so.

Could be the n52b30 with lower low end torque. When my car was in running in limp mode, the gearbox shifted perfectly. Zero jerk and sibei smooth, just no power. Kinda like how the old e60 pre lci 525i was.

Then again, this jerky/laggy gearbox problem in f10 started when bmw was still using n52 engine.

IL-6 FTW.

V12 in my wet dream.

Re: Inline 6 (523) vs Inline 4 twin turbo (520)

20i can't remap to 28i lah afaik intercooler smaller and also the diff ratio different. in addition 28i cars have uprated brakes also.
