hehe joking bro, mine is not the joint, mine is the final drive as claimed, not settled, and not intend to let it rest for the moment.

This is something you cannot let go, persist on! cars are so expensive and getting this kind of lemon is totally not acceptable

has the same rear knocking sound, this is the 4th time I leave the car with PML for 3 days, got it back today the moment I drive out from PML hear the knocking sound again is from the rear left sound, anyone out there has this resolved on Sdrive 23i?

If its not someone from the BMW factory stuck in the boot trying to get out, PML has to resolve the issue if the vehicle is still under warranty.

It could be a design flaw or something minor like a loose bracket or bushing from the fuel tank assembly causing it to dance about on back and forth moments. Due to the tight spaces, I would assume the slightest slack will get parts knocking each other.

Unfortunately this issue remained unresolved, several attempts by PML but they just cant fix it. Fed up.

How many Z owner here has the same problem?

I am sure if it is a inherent problem of the car, there will be a fix-it soon on its way either by BMW or third party specialists. ... It's still a great looking car and drives very well.

The unlucky one that our beloved z produced such irritating rear clunking/ knocking sound:

1) Me
2) Falken
3) Anvillyson

I heard this faint knocking sound coming from the left back of the car this morning..and I said to myself...or no. Not happening to me. Everytime I pulled to a stop at the lights, I hear it. I moved off from stand-still, I hear it too. Off the aircon and radio, it is a cluck cluck sound...becoming more obvious.

I tried to isolate exactly where the problem is. Cant seem to find it whole morning.

Finally I found it!! Was the passenger seat belt buckle knocking the side of the door.

Heng ah..!!

I have started to notice a bit of the same sounds you are describing, especially from the left. It does get irritating from time to time. No one can identify where the sounds are from, but I have a suspicion it could be a failed exhaust dampener that developed a hair line crack or lost its elasticity. Whatever the case, I'm going ahead with replacing all the exhaust dampers and see if it resolves the problem. Will keep you folks updated.

What size of rim are you guys on, I am on 19" staggered. Went for a test drive today again and they assume it due to the rim size which I don't think so,anyway going to fix another appointment to troubleshoot this.

I also haev this occasionally knocking sound, anyway sending to work shop tomorrow. Will update what Performance say

still could not resolve this with PML, thought of taking it to outside workshop. who can i bring it to from the recommended workshop list?
