Look here if u like shiny black car!

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

looks great man!

some tip for you.. your first 2 pics of the shine.. looks like u r having trouble finding focus point. try manual focus instead.

curious by the way, how much wax did you apply by hand over a section? a dollop of wax rubbed into your palms, or just a little bit only?.. cos it seems like the leeway for error before getting haziness is small.. guessing trial and error or is there some sort of formula for this?

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

i applied quite alot compared to what suppose to be about 1 peanut sized per panel...i was very kiasu...

it was hazing last night..quite badly... but after washing the car with cold water twice...

the haze starts to go off...now only left the bonnet

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

hw cold muz the water be to get rid of the hazing?

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

terry when u wanna organize mass carwash meetup? guys getting together and applying wax all over..

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

frm what i read from other forums like autopia and detailing bliss... it has to be near frozen...so i just follow...dont really know whats the theory behind it

i put the bottled distilled water in the freezer until half of the water is ice...

actually an easier way is just buy a field glaze... works better and faster... but more ex

gayvin..u organize the mass carwash la..haha

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

it has to be distilled water.... again..i dont know why...i just follow whats proven to work

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

yr car is a mirror... thumbs up!

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

Finally after all those weeks collecting ur equipment, u managed to do a great job! :) I wanna see!

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

Thumbs up Terry!

That's a major detail you did there... I think it's is a forum record!

I learnt the hard way that hazing happens more easily with paste wax especially when it's applied thick. Had the same issue last time and the following day, the whole bonnet got very hazy and I could see the wax patterns forming.

Had to shampoo it down and used a quick detailer to get it back to normal. Understand what you went through..

Glad it looks great now!

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

thanks for the compliment guys....

BTW anyone knows where to get full range of zymol products locally other can carworks?

called carworks and they are not friendly at all on the phone... gave me bad impression... sigh

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

Terry your car looks ace! V v nice!

personally, i'm more on abt shiny cars than modded cars... I always admire and look out for shiny cars when driving on the road haha! Doesn't matter which marque to be honest. I'm not on about detailing per se, but have to make an effort cos I want my black car to be shiny and have that glow at nite... even then, my black car not as shiny as yours! I not pro lah haha! We can discuss detailing in a future meetup... probably have too much to discuss abt lol.

Abt using distilled water:
IMHO, doesn't really have to be distilled water in our climate... reason for using distilled water is that if it evaporates, it won't leave water spots... with our mainly high humidity (tho in the afternoon sun, our relative humidity can drop by quite a bit.. to the high 60s... afternoon sun good for drying clothes lol!), water doesn't evaporate as fast as other climes e.g. US in the summer etc.... so you could in theory use tap water but you must dry it completely before it evaporates.... personally, i'd just use distilled water...

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

For zymol, can also go to bronzecarman at toh guan. Service top notch... boss was formerly from PML too. Closed on Sundays tho... so don't waste ur time going today.

Is it due to the minerals prevalent in normal tap water?

yah it is... although singapore's water is moderately soft, tap water on your bonnet/hood left to bake in the sun will cause faint water spots... try it to believe it lol! Personally i would never rinse my car with a hose without the intention of wiping it dry, though it is tempting if my car is only slightly dirty.

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

Terry, nice job!

I'm thinking of doing the detailing myself but after seeing your wrinkled hands, I think I need to pay alot more for manicure after the session. Sigh... What a bugger when you're a boy stuck in a girl's body...

Any suggestions for somewhere I can go to get my car polished swee swee for the first time to protect the paint?

Re: Look here if u like shiny black car!

SFC no more... seems that anoter good choice now is juzz brilliant... i have never been there at all..but heard alot of compliments about them

hows the condition of the car? spray some isopropyl alchohol to check if dealers used any fillers to mask out any defects..

if its still perfect..means u dont need any paint correction... protection i can do it for you...
