So I'm not alone in thinking Porkies are overpriced by the AD here! Was toying around with the idea of a C4S recently, but got seriously put off by AD quote.... where are you going for PI, if you don't mind me asking?

Still looking around now. I do hv "lead" but its all hearsay still. Will not "commit" until I see the actual car in Spore. Too many "shifty" people out there looking to make a quick buck nowadays, so I am cautious. Will PM you when I get more info.

Re: Which would you rather buy?

Hope AD goes bust! Somehow options r more ex here than in US. Whats e rationale?

Thanks Blue. I'm also chasing up a contact on my end. If anything solid (as opposed to woolly "I wanna make a quick buck offa youse") turns up, I'll do the same and PM you.

Yeah, me looking at PI too. My brother will be helping me to PI the car from UK. He used to be very active in this business (sunauto) and his UK contacts are still very much intact. His dealer was helping me find an allocation for the new GT3 a couple of months back, but all allocation for the next 6 months have been taken up. Production was also delayed due to some issue at a parts supplier I read, so the back log is quite bad. I basically configured the car on uk site and pass them the link for my config. I did that before some years back for my wife's 130i. Quite a lot of savings can be had for this car compared to AD.

Happy for you, nothing beats config your own car. Pls also do consider the lifter option - read that the owners who have collected their cars (w/o lifters) are regretting it big time (brake ducts are very low on the 991 GT3).

That's actually at the top of my list of options followed by the CCB :) No lifter = heartache in SG.

Coz it is priced as if it's subject to tax.
It's fked up here.

Re: Which would you rather buy?

yeah dont quite understand it...seems that all the whatever punitive taxes levied on whatever OMV of the car are passed to consumers..
whenever I think of 350k M3 now worth over 400k or similar priced cayman s now 420k..i think the sg car market needs a rethink reboot...close to half a mil for a cayman s or 600k 991?? are we paying close to 3-5 times more than ppl in other countries? really a country for e rich...COE lost its purpose and i question its existence in the first place...

Re: Which would you rather buy?

we need a recession to wake up the ADs....property market collapse best.....shld precipitate a collapse in the auto industry

The purpose of COE was never intended to control growth of vehicle population alone. It's a means of taxation as well, hence the reluctance to tweak the system over the years. Only when satellite based ERP (by usage) is in place, would the price of COEs be allowed to moderate downwards as they would be able to get their tax from usage charges. I can't wait for that day to arrive...

Clar, at the end of the day, I might have to trouble you for your brother's contact ... my lead for the Porker has vanished into thin air. No news, no squeak, no peep, nada, zip, jack all. Still, I'm holding out till 2015... that's when the COE, ceteris paribus, is expected to moderate downward somewhat.

I will ask him if he is keen to do as he has not been doing this business for a while now and only doing it for me.
