if there is no multiple AD, there is no incentive to improve. period.

+1.... but market size in SG may not be attractive for more than 1 AD.

But the mkt is not big enough for more than 1 AD.

PML is selling tonnes of bread & butter 3 series. Most of these bread & butter are new BMW owner. A lot of these new owner does not realise that BMW is prone to small annoying problem. All these small annoying problem increase PML after service workload resulted in waste on manhour on solving non-mechanical problem.

Lastly, since 318 comes from Munich Plant & a lot of ppl swear by Made in Germany, why does 318 has more problem? I wonder............

Re: Another Ridiculous Experience @ PML

i understand sg market is too small to have 2 AD for BMW.
i'm just throwing a textbox theory that if there is no competition there is no "push" factor to improve. period.
management improvement is own time own target. if there is a competitor to steal their business, that's whole different ball game.

Thats good to hear. Which PI ?

I think we should start a thread on "Best PI in SG, JB and some say BATAM".

TWM is the warranty company that a lot of PIs are using now to cover the car's warranty instead of having the old system of each PI having a workshop to look after the cars they sell. the car is sold together with the warranty, usually 5 years & 100,000km, and sticks with the car so even if you sell it its transferred to the next owner, unlike many of the old PI system.

and since the cost of the warranty is already fully paid for by the PI to TWM when you buy the car, all you got to deal with from now is TWM, no more dealing with the PI that brought the car in.

works well both ways i guess, the PI no longer has to worry about aftersale servicing, TWM has the economy of scale and quite a few workshop under its authorised list (i think BVO is one of them) and buyers dont have to deal with the PI and fear them closing down anymore.

and as far as i know, first automobile and quite a few other PIs offer this when you get cars from them. i got my car from first auto a couple of years ago, and so far i have no problems with TWM and their servicing. couple of my friends have done claims for things like O2 sensors, doors and windows stuff before, quite fast and painless experience.

Problem is there are quite a few bad reviews on TWM. Also, alot of their PRC mechanics are not well versed with BMWs or other conti makes for that matter.

think there's a thread on TMW ard here somewhere. :)

At the end of the day, I think tying up with the correct workshop is the most important for PI. Because they will be the ones that will be able to know what's right or wrong. Look at PML as an example, they touch things that is not related and in the end do not address the matter at hand. And it doesn't help when customers are also not technically familiar.

but it can be tough unless the PI specializes in certain brands. then they can tie-up with a specialist workshop to do after sales maintenance and warranty.

i agree.
sometimes it's strange but PML, despite being THE BMW specialist - sometimes is unable to narrow down / isolate problems despite their supposed wealth of experience.

yeah i know, i dont go to the main TWM workshop for anything other than an oil change, even then i stand around and watch what they are doing.

but thats the thing, they do have tie ups with other workshops. those that 'specializes' in a certain make of car. BVO is under them right?

i have a VW, and there are like 3 different workshops under TWM that most guys goes to whether their cars are from the AD or PI to do everything from servicing to modding.

but yeah like you said, at the end of the day, it comes down to the guy thats working on your car.

i'll go look for that thread. thanks!

good help is hard to find :)

but this seems to be a problem for most agents... except maybe for the exception of Volvo.

think BVO and BOSS are authorized workshops for the TWM warranty program but rumour has it that these workshops aren't exactly thrilled being part of the scheme.

Thats why we have blessed workshops like Boss Motorsports right Bro Mandingo. Good old fashion honest service.

Re: Another Ridiculous Experience @ PML

As a new certified BMW Premium Selection owner, I must say I am disappointed by the quality of the people who work in PML. Do they love the brand? Do they love cars? And do they know what they are talking about? For instance, during routine servicing, I mentioned that my car is drifting left if I let go of the steering wheel. The response; "because SG it rains all the time, all SG roads slope left towards the drains. Hence, the car veers left". *ahem*

LOL......

That means ALL cars (including ALL BMWs) should veers left naturally.......

Re: Another Ridiculous Experience @ PML

although there is some truth that the road right side is higher than left side to drain rain water but simply use it as an explanation for car veers left is pure dumb

Well PML's after-sales from top to bottom is run by idiots. Even the after-sales team governed by BMW Asia is hopeless to the nth degree. So you really can't expect anything out if it. Take it to a proper and competent workshop. It appears to be an alignment problem which can be solved easy by doing an alignment.

Oh and mine veers toward the sky and PML told me it's because mine is an ///M. Pure Genius! Hahaha...

No no no...PML claims to have top class mechanics and after-sales and they are always right. You really think they will give you a cent and admit to their pathetically incompetent after-sales? Doubt it. Anyway it's a waste of time dealing with them. At the end of the day, nothing ever gets going anywhere as with alot of customer's complaints.

Dragonred, anyway if your rims is not original BMW rims, you can't get PML to do an alignment cause to them, yours is considered off-spec not compatible with their alignment machine.
