Hey Bro! I Just got mine 2mths back & its running fine till now!

Buying a car is like getting a wife, its like a gamble & a bit of luck!
On Maintenance wise, it's regular servicing & My personal advice is,it doesn't hurt to do a detail check on the parts car cause nowadays car dealers have lots of things up their selves.

Good luck in finding your next pride!
Cheers!!!

Hi all,

I am a newbie here..
eyeing an 2007 E90....

love ur analogy of buying a car like getting a wife its like a gamble...haha

the ride i m eyeing has 4 previous owners...in 5 years....making me wonder why....is this common? does that imply there may be some problem with the ride?

Yes i need 10 posts...

next question...thinking of sending it to a workshop for inspection first before confirming the deal...
some bro mentioned its only $80?
called 2 workshops so far, one quoted $180 one quoted $100....but can waive if the repairs/ servicing done by them....
any comments?

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Hi all

Am in the midst of purchasing a 2nd 325 coupe Oct 97. This car already has 3 owners and mileage ard 60000+km.

Will be bringing down to BOV for assessment.

Like to hear from past experiences will the assessment be helpful for a problem free ride over the next few years?

I have also fre who recommend me taking up a warranty from LTM for $1k+ a year .... so will it cover repair cost for parts?

Tks

I'm doing the same this week, hope it'll be good! Will keep you updated.

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Jus went to BVO to do the assessment. Found the following faults:

1. Radiator spare tank leaking
2. Front suspension arm no good
3. Throttle body no good, car pulling to LH
4. Front shock top mount / stoppers no good
5. Front pad n all n all tyres wearing, centre cup holder bad

No other major issue and car in good condition.

Above repair excluding tyres will cost ard $3k

I told the sales guy knock $2k off the car sales price for me and I will bear the remaining cost of repair n tyre change.

Wat do u guys think?

tells me compare car can be compare with depreciation only ... n his final is 249k ... reckon this is just a sales talk.... would rather get a new car then ...

got other factor to look into too.....probably if you see one that you really likes but depreciate more, am sure you will buy too................( like nicer rims, nicer interior colour combi, etc etc )

Then u tell him ... then dealer can make good the car ... cos when a dealer buy your old car he force you to sign that your car is in good condition...

So ask him to do the repairs bss BOSS recommendations ...

if not dun buy loh .. :juggle:

Problem is the car is on consignment! So in a way seller gonna bear the cost if he wanna sell. Really LPPL :screwedu:

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Latest update ... the seller request to bring the car to Cyber cars service centre to do the repair and he may be willing to pay for all the repairs.

Any bros here got any comments on the workshop and work done? Reliable?

:oops::oops::oops:

Like i said no problem to head any workshop to do ...

put it clear that as per BOSS workshop recommendation, there is a/b/c to be done due to wear and tear from previous owners. pay u 3k to be done at boss or the seller can do it at his own workshop a/b/c to be made good and you would do another inspection prior purchase.

the first inspection u done at boss seller should pay you the money... the final insoection if all goes well u should bear it...

thats the correct way!

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Hi guys,

I need some advice here.

I am looking around for a 2nd hand 320i and have the following options:-

1. Car A with 70K km mileage but just serviced by PML
2. Car B with 44K km mileage but last service was done at the 25K mark.

Both cars are of the same age and Car B may be $1K cheaper. Which is a better deal?

How much will the estimated servicing cost at the 50K km mark?

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

1 K difference only? Looks like a no brainer, get the lower mileage one. But key thing is it has to be bought from PML as electronic servicing can be expensive.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. Car A has just been serviced by PML but Car B has not. Of cos based on mileage I will take Car B but I am worried if servicing cost will cost a bomb at the 50K km mark.

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Maery, no it won't cost a bomb.
But 20k km never service, careful of potential issues, e.g. sludge.
