Maery, no it won't cost a bomb.
But 20k km never service, careful of potential issues, e.g. sludge.

That's one of my concerns too. I guess the safest would be to get it checked out by one of the authorised workshops here before making the commitment. For Car A which has just been serviced by PML few days ago, it is safe to assume all that needs to be change have been changed? or do i still need to get it checked? How much would a typical servicing cost at PML?

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

i recently got myself a pre fl '06 320i (should be E90) please correct me if wrong.
hopefully this ride is good to go for the next 4yrs till i dereg.

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Hi
I looking at getting either an E46 Coupe: 330Ci or M3..

Could someone tell me, if the E46 330Ci comes with dual exhausts or quad exhausts as standard or is that dependent on model year? If not, the quad exhaust will need LTA approval, right?

How is the reliability of the 330Ci and it's auto gearbox?

Thanks for your help.

Bro rt4ouredz,

I also recently got myself a E90 pre fl '05 320i. Before I buy, I brought it to ProSwift Auto Care @ 10 Kaki Bukit Road 2 and did a full diagnostics for less than $100. They got this gadget just to diagnose the car condition and performance. I heard it costs $80k a piece for that equipment.

Less than 2 hours of waiting, I got a full report of the problems of the car.

I haven't tried their servicing yet but I heard they are pro bmw workshop. The boss Chean Ling is very professional and service oriented.

I strongly recommended them for thorough check for your car and normal servicing.

Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Hello everyone!

I am a newbie in this forum and have been sourcing around sgcarmart for a bimmer. Recently found a ride from there but it is a 2007 model. May I ask if anyone has heard of Auto Inn before and if they are reputable?

Also, I read in the forum of some buyers gg for inspection/assessment at reputable workshops such as BVO or Proswift, etc. However, my dad has been asking all the dealers to let us send the cars for STA checks. I am not quite sure the difference between STA checks and also the inspection/assessment from BVO or Pro Swift?

Would anyone be able to advise? Thank you so much in advance.

hi all

for 09 E90 320iXL -
(1) does it come with memory seats as standard?
(2) does it have remote control folding side mirrors?

Apologies if this has been asked before but I have read a few pages but couldnt find similar topics. thanks.

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand 3 Series

Hi all,

just sent the vehicle in for STA checks and report says B with some remarks

1) Vehicle windscreen glass front (70%: rear 25%)
2) Vehicle window glass front:65%, Rear 25%. Not in Accordance to LTA regulations.

Any comments on this?

Thanks brothers in advance.

Hi Effiel,

if i am not wrong, i think most bimmers especially in 2009 should have memory seats as standard. the folding mirrors are also standard. Are you purchasing a unit soon?

hi kevin, yes im looking at a 2009 XL model, not the basic model. so it came to me as a surprise when i couldnt find the memory seats buttons at the side of the driver seat.

and then when i pressed and hold the lock button on the remote, the mirror doesnt fold at all.

i thk the tint problem is small but the "B" grading calls for more details.

Instead of STA, it is better to sent it to a specialised workshop to check it out. Anyway, be prepare to spent $5k to maintenance since it is already 5 yrs old.

Hi,

Not sure yet about the depreciation figures but I assume it's around 15k? However, think I will sell according to market by then bah..I guess it's a Heng suay thing right if buying a car? Just hope it isn't a lemon cos the car I'm giving up is in perfect condition. :(

Oh btw, I actually called pro swift as recommended by one of the bros here n they said i shld send my car in to STA and VICOM as the service they provide is similar to theirs? In fact even more detailed. Not sure about that nor why he told me that though..anyone with experience can comment on this?

Aiyo..getting a bit worried abt the car now..sigh..

Hi! I briefly read threads from last 3 pages only and i gathered you are buying '07 E60. A few things to note as I have also been monitoring the resale market for E90 and E60 for months.

If depre at 15k for '07 E60....errr I would throw in a bit more for the 6. Dealers have adjusted up '07 E60 to depre range 13k average to date.

About Auto INN, you may find some interesting posts about them in SgCarmart. You may wanna read it .......:p

Hi,

thank you for your kind advice. I am actually planning to buy a 2007 E92 coupe. Even though STA has reverted a Grading of B with no other remarks with regards to engine, I am not sure about it still as many brothers here have advised to take their used cars to BMW specialist.

I called BMW, they were nice enough to offer a check but it takes 2 days for their diagnosis. Anyway, I am just worried about the road tax and also the hidden costs that will kill me. Would selling the car after one year make sense to anyone?
:huhhuh:

hey eiffel, i believe you were trying out the key tricks? holding on to the key and the windows/side mirror will fold?

I heard that this is a standard feature for all BMWs but the side mirror may not be (depending on model). I heard from my dealer i am interacting with now, he said its a setting. Apparently when i unlock my car, the mirror slides down halfway. Cool but I foresee more wear n tear...so i want to reset it if I buy that ride.

Is the model you looking at a PI? strange that there's no memory seat..
