i thought the multiple car owners tax would have been a good suggestion

How does dat bring down the number of cars on the road? 1 person can drive more than one car?

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

To this unlearned layperson, an obvious way to make it equitable and fair is to UNCOUPLE the COE component to the total car loan package. Make the buyer pay for the COE in cash upfront. No loan. Car loan is then strictly on the value of the car, and you can keep it at 50% or relax it to 70%.

I know it's not the garhmen's job to help all of us own cars, but it's really ridiculous to think that the garhmen's actually punishing efficiency (smaller engines, lesser fuel consumption, higher outputs) with this stupid new law!

I'm seriously ashamed to think that this is the best the scholars can come up with.

Devil's advocate - what would you do if you are TUCK YOU?
I wrote in LTA FB when LTA was asking for feedback (i know it is wayang only). Before we fix the car problem, we need to fix public transport problem. So that ppl got option mah.

For COE, other than Open Cat, all bidding of COE must be with SINGPASS. It will eliminate all dealers from the bidding process. But it is not in line with maximising profit of THE COFFER.

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

How does lta determine the Bhp power? Thru manufacture claims? Then they can start tweaking the figures right? Maybe dyno that time can disable a 535 twin turbo and run with just 2 cylinder to achieve 128hp... Huat ah

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

To a scholar cum spin doctor ... this idea infers that the people are clamoring for a fixed priced COE. Because there is an incentive to low ball the bids - thus to be fair and oblige to the people's wishes COE will be pegged to 2.5 times of OMV to control the car population.

It will help fund the underground roads (underworld) project. Hell defined in more ways than one .....

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

You should read annex c under point 16. The justification of LSB over PAYB is fundamentally flawed. It assumes that bidders know the true COE price and places the bid. The fact is you don't. In current manner, ADs bid on behalf and they control the true COE price which is some fictional number floating in space. This is not the price that bidders are willing to pay in the first place.

They keep stating that PAYB will lead to higher premiums. This is actually the reverse if PAYB happens and LTA will see a huge decline in their revenue takings. Period.

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

PAYB means all bidder will revise their bid at 15.59 and crash LTA system unlike now PML can simply enter $100k and bo chap.
