I would agree to some extent. I started off using Brigdestone RE11s back in the day, rubbed like crazy then changed to Michelin PS 2 and then Michelin PSS and have been on PSS since. there may newer variations now?Occasionally some shops do not keep stock and will need to order.
It all depends on the brand and the size and availability during that time. If no PSS, Conti CSC 5 also not bad....I feel your pain bro but 20s are common nowadays. Sorry if this is a bias comparison as I did not mention much about Jap brands

My other car is currently on Pirelli as tyre shop made a blunder and changed it for me but invoice indicated as Michelin PSS. So far ok except wet weather.

These are my old DPEs. Pics were with M suspension. Did not change to KWs then. Remember that if you are getting a wheel which has lesser spokes, i would highly recommend changing the brakes else the wheels will make the brakes look small

Oh...just to add more poison, the rear Brembo that have the e-parking module had arrived at Jun’s workshop. It’s awesome! Very sad for me my front BBK is AP so doesn’t make sense to put Brembo on the back.
