IMO, the result of this by election is a good reflection of the "progress" made by the ruling party since GE 2011!
Some smart Alec interviewed by CNA earlier mentioned that the garmen is already taking improved measures to encourage the increase of birth rate amongst Singaporeans. This does not sound logical at all when cost of basic necessities like housing and transportation are rising and rising and not to mention the increasing cost of child care centers, employing a maid and education!
The smart Alec also mentioned, when asked by reporter, that the demographics of voters in this constituency is not symbolic of the core Singaporean population (pardon me if my interpretation is not accurate due to poor command of English). When you lose an election by 10% in a 4 party contest, then every vote, regardless of the voter's demographic, counts.

"Teo Chee Hean issues threats to Punggol East voters at Press Conference that the PAP representative in Punggol East will not have the resources to carry out the Party's plans given that they have lost the election."
With more educated SGean and the next batch of voters coming of age at GE16, the above hard handed ways will jolly well backfire.
Anyone can confirm the above statement?

It's been the same old speech and tone from all sides. I hope all sides will truly fight for the people who live under their wings rather than to fight for their own party agenda.

unless PAP can engineer a recession that drives down inflation and drives out foreigners without hurting singaporeans' pocket too much, they are basically farked in 2016.
imho, they are a lost cause, unless they deprivatized SP services,smrt,telecom,SBS,GLC.....

I think the other way to get more opposition is to expose each p8p extra marital affair, and then they force resign. And comes another by election!

We need the foreign workers... It is the foreign "talents" that we don't need that many. If they continue to use a butcher's cleaver to cut this problem, the local businesses will suffer and we will be screwed as a country because it means they are still clueless.
The whole issue of overcrowding IMHO, is due to Ministry A not talking to Ministry B... Bring them in, we need them. But oops, I forgot to tell the guys looking after transportation and housing to prepare for more and that takes time. Or maybe they told them, but no one listened or thought, as usual, they can handle the problem themselves.

Agree. Especially so called Ang Moh foreign trash that beat people up and jump bail, only to come back to face the music because they can't find a job back home, or Ang Moh trash that throws zinc plates at a construction site, or Ang Moh rubbish that sleep with Pinoy maids hehehe
