Of cos...... slowly and quietly drive up up up and then quietly drive down down down.... sure affect FC.... But what happens up there may or may not affect FC... Perhaps the could not afford the mile high club so they settle of the carpark on top Fcuk Club.... new term for FC.....

I am very sorry to say this but how does one quantify their driving patterns?

From our dealings with drivers from all sorts of versions of engines and rims, blah blah blah...... we get lots of responses on their mileage.

How does one quantify mileage? One's car with their personal driving habits compared to another guy's involves too many variables. How do you quantify expressway percentage? according to KM or according to total journey time?

Do you know that travelling at 10km/h in a large carpark can use up to 300mL of fuel? And that can be a large portion of the trip's total fuel usage if it was a short trip.

Try using your cars average speed when you compare mileage. reset the ave speed every tank and this will answer a lot of questions and set minds at ease. We had a customer that drives a e90 323 on 19" rims. He was getting 300km on 1 tank of petrol. We checked and check everything and at the end realised that his ave speed was just 22km/h. He did not stop to make phone calls while the engine was running. And when compared to his MB C180, which did almost 500km per tanks, driven the same way, he perpetually felt the E90 was a drinker. The owner still forgot that he was driving a 2.5L engine that needed fuel even though he was pottering around in industrial estates and car parks. Hence the 22km/h ave speed.

In any case, a virtually stock car is supposed to give the best economy for most drivers in normal driving situations. If you wanna mod then forget about comparing your 7+km/L to another guy's 9km/L. There is just too many variables...

Personally I think the higher octane 98 works better for BMW car as due to advance/comprehensive ECU system of BMW and higher compression ratio for all across BMW engine comparing to other auto brand tuned for economical purposes.
Especially for high temperature ambient in Singapore, the high octane fuel prevent knocking which using lower octane may cause the knocking such the ECU will retard the timing of spark, thus less power.
For agressive driving style, where cost of fuel is second option, 98 is the choice.
For day to day commute, the 95 does the job well at the same time friendly to the pocket.

It won't explode la. If u mix 50/50 accurately, u actually get RON 96.5.

Btw, has anyone calculated if pumping 50/50 of 92 and 98, is this cheaper than pumping full tank of 95?

You can do that but it's quite troublesome?! I find 95 good enough for my E90 320 but for 6 cylinders engine I would use 98.
