Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

that was their recommendation. to use the back film (25%) on the front two windows too for better heat rejection. i dun think VKOOL has a clear film that is 99% heat rejection. that i am very sure.

Reason I am saying that is because I have sat in cars with ultra-dark tint, but the heat insulation is poor compare to cars with lighter tint but somewhat better reflective abilities.......

Darker tints means that the tint rejects visible light and may or may not reject infrared and UV radiation which is the main culprit for the heat. So darker tint does not mean better heat rejection.

Take a look at the comments from the specialists:

(1) "Tinted windows just blocked visible light and that might be helpful for glare or if you're doing something illegal in your car...... but if you are trying to keep cool, it's not gonna do much for you......customers should expect to pay more for a metallic film that will reflect light and keep a car cooler."

SOLAR FILM WITH A DIFFERENCE

Go through the materials and what they were made of..... found nothing except this:

SOLAR FILM WITH A DIFFERENCE

What happened to the metallic film they talked about in their myth-busting section?

Strange.

(2) "The technology behind V-KOOL’s revolutionary performance is in a complex process of embedding multiple stacks of heat reflecting. The super clear substrate is embedded with 7 atomic layers of Gold, Silver and Indium Oxide. This complex process gives V-KOOL it's amazing heat reflection qualities without looking reflective or dark."

V-KOOL Singapore

Pretty much explained the technology behind the pedigree. Contrast it against Cool & Lite's product specifications.

(3) 3M also has the same "metallic" feature.......

From my experience, 3M gives the best compliance with it being darker than the competition.

I am using 3M solar films and its 38% all around. It looks very nice and its not too dark. It costed me 900 bucks and i did it at Bedok. It looks just right and the way i want it to be.

acu,

if u can find clear film at 99% heat rejection do let me know. i am interested.

I thot so too. I sat in my hiadee's MPV. cant recall brand but he spent half of what I spent on V-kool. I find his car very hot and it looked darker than my V-kool. in fact u think about it, it shld be opposite. darker = more heat absorption. Apparently was told there is some sort of silver material in V-kool which deflects Infra Red rays so keeps car cooler.

Having said, I reckon 3M must be quite good too, as PML was promoting it at one stage.

98% err..... a sai bo?

cos Vk70 its 98% Infra-red heat rejection and 70% Visible Light Transmission, so its definitely lighter than your CNL63 which is 95% Infra-red heat rejection and 63% Visible Light Transmission

but of course its not clear lo....

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

Vkool? 75% light transmition?

Re: Window Tint, which brand Huper Optik, Vkool, Cool n lite, 3M

its written 70% not 75%.

mind u that for the rear used.

thanks gadgets. mind share with us your premier standard for the front+side and mirage for the rear+side, with some details of the film spec.

mind you, according to Halim from SIM MING. X75 will install on the front instead of the J83. J83 will be on the on the 2 front door only.
premier uses VK75 for front half and VK70 for rear half. but our bimmer front is alr tinted so using premier would not be compliant, which is why J83 is recommended. so i used VK75 for front half.

for the rear, i like it to be slighlty darker, so its either K37 (slightly less light transmission; i.e. darker but also less heat rejection) or VK40 (more light but also more heat rejection). as we have blowers to the rear seats, i chose K37.

actually i find that Rike Cool film gives the darkest tint...but its heat resistance is nowhere near vkool.
