E90 engine oil leak experience

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

Hi Sagetan, how much did you spend for the top overhaul? Can PM me francis address ... Thanks

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

Very Satisfied with Francis service and workmanship, most impt pricing.

1. Solved my engine oil seepage at 15% of the price quoted in sg workshop
2. Solved my check light due to aftermarket lights, 2 sg workshops tried and gave up
3. Re route and improvised my aftermarket air intake at a price of 5 cans of 100 plus
4. Many freebies here and there, oil some hinges, window seals, etc
5. Helping me to source for parts from Japan

Worth all the effort travelling to his place. Will do my car with him in the future.
Even my wife praise him and dont mind going to his workshop with me, surprising...

When there is high demand, hopefully they can still maintain their quality as well as the competitive rate..

I do want to pay them a visit soon.. Thanks for sharing.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

They are open M-F 9am till late (usually 9pm last I heard). Sat 9am to 5pm I think, best to call Francis before going over. They are usually very full on weekdays.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

Just done up my ride with Francis with all parts bought from eng soon:

Changed all 4 suspension, oil sump gasket and normal servicing for close to 1k. Is this reasonable?

Francis was recommending using 10/60 engine oil which I got from him. Normal servicing cost approximate rm 300.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

For most new BMW, i.e. under 3-5 years old and no leaks, they are using 0w-30 or those older than 5YO like myself using 5w-40

What model is your BMW and how old is it? Am surprised he got you to use 10w-60, did you ask him why?

Depending on age, 10w-60 is quite heavy and is usually used as stop-gap measure to lessen leaks in older engines due to worn out engine parts / gaskets etc.

Do you find the engine a bit more sluggish than before, you may also notice in the mileage but it's more protection, just rem to warm up a bit in the morning before you drive off since the 60 weight oil need a little more time to warm up compared to the 0w30/5w40.

As for cost wise, it sounds like your labour cost for suspension change + oil sump is RM 700. Just take your RM 700 divide by no of guys/man x hours = you get his manhour rate, and you can tell whether it's reasonable or not :)

I assume is the absorber only, may i know the brand?

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

None of the lowered springs will "match" the stock absorbers. They will all compromise on the lifespan of the absorbers - meaning the absorbers will "die" faster. That said, I've heard good things about Eibach lowering springs...
