No implications...

hmm i'm just trying to help ahh. if i'm not wrong,

i THINK it can be installed on a e65 and e83.
it CAN be dismantled when selling off your ride but i DON'T THINK it can be transfered to another car. you got to do a new one. hmmm

Re: Ignition Upgrades

hi, a few questions:

1) heat rating on spark plugs remain?
2) no overheating issues?
3) can be installed on vw mkv gti?
4) draw more current from battery and /or alternator?

thanks in advance!

Re: Ignition Upgrades

Re: Ignition Upgrades

REVIEW!

I had the upgrade done on my car but due to some unforeseen issues took it off a week later. But, my goodness, it was good while it lasted. Torque seemed to improve across the band, but particularly at the high end, and driving on a clear expressway became really, really fun.

In fact, I didn't realise how much good it did until I uninstalled it. You realise just what it was adding to throttle response.

This would be a good point to note that it maaaay not work so well on older cars due to wear and tear issues. The good news is that Rodney is THE MAN and took time out of his busy daily schedule to reverse the process and refund my money, and did it all in good humour with a big smile on face. Good news #2 is that as far as I can discern, the process is entirely reversible should you need to, no harm done.

In fact, really, really the only bad thing to report is his workshop is in #$%^ Bukit Batok which, to some of us, might as well be in Malaysia :)

Re: Ignition Upgrades

Sorry, MIA for the few days due to committments... ha ha..

Ok here are the replies...The ignition upgrade works on the BVO coil booster as the effects are different.

The chassis is not critical as the mods work on the engine itself and is not chassis dependent.

If i were to transfer the upgrade, i will have to charge you the same so no gain to transfer.

Cheers

Hi, your heat rating for the plugs remain cos that's more dependent on the actual physical dimensions of your combustion chamber.

Overheating issues will only occur if your cooling system is really on the brink of boiling over. This does not happen easily unless you have a leaking radiator or you poured in a bottle of "stop leak" into your radiator system.

Golf GTI Mk V is a sure thing. Had no issues with this car.

No measureable current increase as the upgrade stores power closer to the ignition coil for instantenous use.

Cheers

Re: Ignition Upgrades

Hi Disco..

Glad that you posted the other side of the mod as you are the first to remove them.

Guys, the problem with the older coils is that the insulation rubber around the spark plug contact tip does not do a very good job of insulating the spark. Thus when the coils fire, the spark jumps out and strikes the side of the plug chamber instead of traveling down to the spark plug tip.

I am hunting for some rubber amalgamating tape to increase the insulation factor. Anybody got lobang? The last time i bought this stuff, i was in australia and i bought directly from RS Components.

The good thing is that the single coil system for the E36 316 and 318 plus the 318is are not affected.

cheers
