In case you were wondering... 2015 launch for new X6 here "Engine options are yet to be confirmed for Singapore when the car launches here in 2015, but they are expected to mirror its X5 cousin. This means the possibility of an xDrive35i, with a 3.0-litre TwinPower turbo with 305bhp, an...

    seized brake caliper

Re: seized brake caliper Bugger. I wouldn't mind having a go at that, but I can't even get the old piston to pop out. Tapped it with a hammer while applying brake pressure, and it just won't move. I guess a junkyard hunt for a new old caliper is on the cards. Thanks.

    seized brake caliper

ok, so the brakes have no bite, and I feel around and find one of the discs is cool to the touch. I take the caliper off and the pads have plenty of meat. I try the brakes to see if the pads move, and they don't. Stuck piston in the caliper. :furious: Take a closer look, and it's rusted like...

Fluctuating RPM @ idle then engine stalled?

Re: Fluctuating RPM @ idle then engine stalled? I love PML. Brought a car there to assess flood damage (see other thread) and got a $30K bill. I asked to see a list of parts needed. Me: Why do you have to replace the intake manifold? Isn't it just plastic tubes? PML: Yes, but there's water...

    Flood damage = new engine??

Re: Flood damage = new engine?? hi everyone, thanks for the comments and the reassurances. I, too, reckon there isn't enough going on with the car to warrant a new engine, but now the insurance company is involved so I don't want to stick my nose in. thanks for the offer of parts anyway...

    Starter connection problem??

Re: Starter connection problem?? Maybe it's your starter relay? Had a similar thing going on with my E34. Last time it happened she wouldn't crank for like 20 min, so I got out and thumped the relay with a torchlight. Fired up right away after that.

    Flood damage = new engine??

Right, I have a friend who drove into a flood with his E85, and the engine took in water and stalled. I went to have a look and opened up the airbox, and there was indeed water in the airbox, soaking the air filter, and water in the hoses leading to the intake manifold. Bad news. The good news...

    m3 engine

Re: m3 engine Out of curiosity, how does one get an M3 engine to run with an autobox? Or do you have to marry them to a manual?

advice needed: How much is a 10-year 318IA E46 worth?

Re: advice needed: How much is a 10-year 318IA E46 worth? One more thing, apart from the excellent Valvetronic engine, the facelifted models came with the quicker steering rack taken from the 3er Compact of the time, which made it much livelier around corners.

    upgrading from 650 to M6 or 911

Re: upgrading from 650 to M6 or 911 I've had a chance to have a go in an M6 on the Ascari Circuit, and it didn't really like slow corners that much. It would understeer through stuff that a 911 would waltz through. That said, the M6 was just incredibly fast on the open road, and fantastic...

    Looking for E36 Coupe

Re: Looking for E36 Coupe There's a lovely E36 coupe in the carpark of Bangkok Bank Building; it's there every time I pass by, and it looks immaculate, like a one-owner car. Completely stock, and a nice understated silver. It's a manual, too, but it's only a four-pot if I remember correctly...

Pump Petrol The Right Way !!!

Re: Pump Petrol The Right Way !!! Interesting tips. Not sure about the wisdom of point 1, though. I noticed that whenever I filled up with cool fuel for my Kawasaki Ninja 7 at night, I'd see a lot of it drop out of an overflow pipe as it expanded when it got warm. So I got more fuel in, but...

    ICV cleaning

Re: ICV cleaning I actually meant the ICV and not the throttle body; pulled it out and got at it with a toothbrush and Q-tips and WD40, and man was it crusty. Car runs much better now. Tightened up the slack on the throttle cable, too, and throttle response is more instant. I love old cars -...
