F10 528i mods and maintenance (Pics)

Hi, does anyone here encounter issue with knocking sound from the driver's seat when going over humps. Had a popular BMW specialist workshop to remove the seat to tighten everything but still couldn't solve the problem. Was told even changing the seat frame or backrest frame has no guarantee in getting rid of the knocking sound. Any advice is appreciated.
i have similar issue on my front right when going over the hump. I brought my car to Codewerx and they took out and reinstall the suspension and manage to narrow down the cause. Rub some grease on the bushing and somehow it fix the knocking sound.
I was charged for labour only. The entire process took about 2 hours.

Thanks for the sharing @ahlio. The problem with my 2015 528i F10 is the driver seat. When i go over hump the entire seat would move and the movement of the driver's seat creates the knocking sound. Went to a popular BMW WS, they told me it could be the seat frame but cannot guarantee. Frustrating :(

New project came in the mail.

Wanted to give this a go after watching the DiY video.

1. You can pick and choose what design you want !
2. Seller discount chat with them and they were more then happy to give a discount.
3. Instructions are in English and the Video is actually useful.
4. Everything is included in the box except for a pair of scissors.
5. Cover is spot on perfect size !

To those who wish to do this themselves some quick advise.

1. This will take A LOT of time. I personally took about 3 hours+ as I back tracked a bit to rectify mistakes early on.
2. Removal of steering wheel and associated plastic bits and airbag is NOT required but does make life a lot easier.
3. Plenty of patience is required.
4. Double sided sticky tape IS required if you want to do a good job and not have the cover move / rotate after installation.
5. If unsure how to align the cover just follow the original stitching that worked out great for me.
6. DO NOT remove the original leather.

And so it begins

1 Hour later bottom 1/2 done

Mistakes made here.
1. No double sided sticky tape.
2. Stitching not tight enough

Top now done, added double sided sticky tape to prevent movement this part alone took nearly an hour to do properly.

Went back to cut the bottom open again and put tape as well as tighten the stitching.

Final Product:
Quite happy with it overall, won't want to do this again in a hurry.
Added girth / thickness feels good in hand.
Cover is super plush for suede material next time i'd like to go proper alcantara tho

Finally got around to fixing my ambient light bar in the rear doors. Seems they were damaged when someone tried to remove the door panels at some stage.

Parts from Eng Soon as usual $25 per piece + gst = $53.50 total.

637 is rear upper LEFT door
638 is rear upper RIGHT door

Removal of door card is required then a good tug on the joining of the light to the round end is all it took to separate it. Install is the reverse and took about 20 mins for both sides.

More maintenance, been having rough vibrations coming in especially at idle at stop lights. More pronounced when the a/c is turned off at idle. When the engine rpm drops, it feels like the engine is about to stall. Last servicing the mechanic said the engine mounts were due to be changed out.

Off to Eng Soon, total for 2 x engine and 2 x gearbox mounts came to $214 all OEM Corteco and Contitech.

Called META mechanics and booked the appointment, quoted $150 for the install which for the amount of work was well worth while.

Right Side Engine mount completely collapsed and engine is sitting on the mount now.

Same with the left side

Closeup shot of the right shows it sitting on the last line of protection which is the rubber pad.

So pull off the under body trays held together with a never ending amount of screws and bolts, support engine and transmission mount and off comes the engine mounts. The right side being more complicated as the angle requires an additional engine bracket to be removed.

Old mount

Left is new mount right is old (75xxx kms done so far). Not much difference in height but just a few CM makes all the difference.

New engine mounts go in hard to tell the height difference but its there.

Transmission mounts next, took all of 20+ mins to swap these out. Both seemed to have been changed before and still in good condition so no real difference there. Support the gearbox and access the bolts from the rear.

After it was all said and done there was A HUGE change in comfort. Car no longer vibrates like its going to stall at traffic lights and for a total of $214+$150= $354 it was well worth the spend.

Highly recommended to check your mounts next time you go service your car and so far META was the best pricing and allows me to bring in my own parts !

Thank you bro! Loved the way you put in the effort to take the photo shots, intro the pics of products first, close ups, the working on the problem areas and before/after!

If you zoomed in or circle the areas of focus, it will definitely be perfect for noobs like me. Took a while for me to find the areas the mechanics were working on, ha ha.

Great job, thanks!

Hi Rssid, May I know how loud is the aggressive burble tune on your stock exhaust with the high flow catted DP?

Dont hear it in the cabin when the doors are closed. its soft not intrusive. Ive got a stock exhaust muffler still on. Car is not supposed to attract undue attention

Hi Rssid are you running on stock brakes too? If yes, what are your opinions on stage 2 tune with stock brakes?
